I'm afraid we have some spinsters in our inventory. Your blog is interesting and I love the clever, unique way that you used in your blog to make your illuatrations.
Betty
Hi Betty: Sometimes a home just has to work on it's looks and personality before anyone will notice it!
Melanie - Then again someone will come along and see that with a bit of work the spinster can be made into a princess. It is all a matter of how one looks at it. Thanks for the blog.
Melanie, We have plenty of spinsters in our inventory as well...this was a enjoyable read and suggested it for a feature.
Thanks Melanie. It is a cute blog.
I loved the theme of this blog, it's so true! Home buying is such a big commitement, home buyers are shoppers afterall, and they want to find the best deal they can.
Steve: You're right! For the right price that lump of coal could be a diamond some day!
Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca -- you're so thoughtful -- I appreciate the compliment!
Susan: Thanks -- glad you stopped by!
Wanda: That's true! Buyer's generally know what's out there -- they won't buy a dud when they know they can get a winner.
Love the way you put this blog post together. My MIL house is on the market up in Oregon. It's a 2nd home community and I'm not impressed with the agents. Not sure what to do at the moment!
Melanie this is a riot---and a very well-written blog post. I love the "pet odor" comment. Your analogy is so right on. (Although I don't think the term spinster is PC anymore. :)
Kate: Good luck with your home sale. Do you think it's time to re-evaluate your agent? I've met (online) some of the Oregon AR agents. They are probably a good place to start.
Deborah: Thanks -- and you're probably right about "spinster". I hadn't heard that archaic word in decades until a former client referred to herself that way and it just cracked me up! I'm so glad you stopped by!
Great post! Where do you find all of the pictures you use. I have such a hard time finding pictures to use in my posts. Well enough about my problems. I love the way you wrote about the spinsters. Sometimes you can tell them the truth and they don't want to listen. I have had troubles convincing clients in the past that pet odors were there. It was my first comment about his home as I walked through it. It then took months before he would let me take interior pictures. by then the new listing effect had worn off.
Thanks Randy -- I just went to Microsoft Clipart online for my graphics which I think is royalty-free (I hope so anyway -- that's why I use it!) I haven't ventured into the better graphic sites yet.
I know what you mean about convincing your clients of certain issues. Especially with pet odor and smoking I've found that the poor homeowners just can't smell it! They really don't understand how their house is permiated with the odor -- and vacuuming just isn't going to cut it! Besides that, it can be a very awkward conversation if the homeowner is embarrassed by the suggestion.
