We have seen more than our fair share of snow this season in Canton MA. As the sayin goes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
The kids have been enjoying the snow at least and there are several favorite sledding locations in Canton.
Pequitside Farm - Located at 79 Pleasant Street in Canton, Pequitside Farm is a 33-acre property owned by the Town of Canton and managed by the Canton Conservation Commission. On the property there is a large Colonial-era house that is available for rental, a playground area, and lots of open space - including a nice hill for sledding right next to the house. It's a smaller hill and perfect for the younger sledders - not too steep and relatively easy to climb back up. There is a parking lot right at the house too, making it convenient for parents.
Galvin Middle School - The Galvin Middle School is Canton's only middle school and is located at 55 Pecunit Street in Canton. Right to the left of the main driveway there is a large hill that is perfect for sledding. It is long and steep, with no obstacles at the bottom. Home to St. Gerard's Kids Camp's "Splash Mountain" in the summer, it is an ideal sledding spot for kids of all ages. Younger or more timid sledders, however, may find it a little steep.
Ponkapoag Golf Course - Ponkapoag Golf Course is located right off the highway on Route 138 in Canton. It is owned and operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. In the winter, the hill at the 18th hole is an ideal sledding spot. It is also located next to Canton's Metropolis Skating Rink, so if you enjoy the combination of ice skating and sledding, this is the location for you!
