5 Comments on Cleaning for a Reason - Helping Women Who are Fighting Cancer
This is fantastic... My father recently passed from cancer. He was in chemo for three years prior to his passing. Two things that people don't understand about chemo. First is that it really makes you exhausted. My father called it being "mugged" for about two days following treatments. The idea being that those two days were "stolen" from him. It's very hard to keep a house clean when you are that tired. Fortunately, he had a wonderful housekeeper who had come in once a week. She was able to continue and accelerate as needed. The other thing that people don't realize is that the immunosupression makes living in a clean environment very important! Opportunistic infection is one of the big reasons for hospitalizations and treatment delays that can put a patient at risk.
Ruthmarie: Absolutely about being so tired you can't move let alone clean. IF you are able to prepare your meals, you certainly can't clean or tidy up because you are out of energy. Thanks for your input. I think it is a worthwhile cause that many women should take advantage of.
Good to know, Lyn. I will surely pass it on to anyone I come across that is in need!
Lyn, this is a wonderful thing that they are doing. I will pass it on.
Kay: I think that it is a wonderful idea. Help for those too tired to do the everyday tasks after therapy.
Christine: Don't forget to pass it on.
