It's all about Perspective - Is this an OCEAN view to YOU?

I got a chance to sneak away to Monterey, CA only about 90 minuntes from Tracy, CA.  A great place to go for a little R&R.

As I opened the curtains in our hotel room, my Active Rain blogging brain saw an opportunity for yet another blog.

It's all about Perspective - Is this an OCEAN view to YOU?

This video will show in photos what I can't possibly express in words.

it's all about perspective.  If this was a home I'd advertise the ocean views.  I take photos, zoomed in highlighting that you can indeed see the Monterey Bay.  However, being a hotel room, that charges extra for "Ocean Views" I'll disagree.  Yes, I suppose in reality I can see the bay, there was even a sailboat that was visible.  However, I don't want to pay a premium price for this view.

Just saying.....

I have seen agents advertise direct waterfront when in fact you have an unobstructed view; if there is a street to cross to get to the beach or water front and if you have to look both ways so not to get hit by a car - you are not waterfront - if you don't walk out your door and off your property onto a sandy beach you are not direct waterfront. Fudging/lying does not advance the listing, the agent or our business.

I agree with you completely. You should have a way better view.

Monterey is so beautiful, with or without ocean views.

Edward- yes fudging the discription will only lead to disappointment of a buyer.

Curt - I agree-- glad I didn't pay more for my room due to the view

Troy - and beautiful it was 70 degree days  not a stitch of fog!  Walked to the ocean to see the ocean.

I wouldn't have paid extra for that view either.  Glad you didn't.  That's crazy stuff.  Misrepresentation is a yucky thing for sure

It's funny how we all have our 'go to' places. Rather than Monterey, we get away to Sanra Cruz. Did it last week as a matter of fact.

Vicki - I love Santa Cruz too, but have never found a great place to stay.
