Real estate forecast: 2012 can't get here fast enough

This time of the year, real estate companies look back on what happened last year and issue their forecasts as to what lies ahead in the coming year. A very casual but wry comment at a forum this week by Russ Hall of Picor Commercial Real Estate Services has pretty much set the tone of what to expect:
"For real estate, 2011 is going to be uneventful. Our local economy is going to limp along. It's going to be a painfully slow recovery but there is a recovery in process."

Hmmm...that's assuming that things really do just limp along.   If currency instability worries escalate, with inflationary pressures, we may be surprised at the return to hard asset investment, simply to preserve capital.
