You are not alone if one of your resolutions this past New Year's Eve was to eliminate the clutter and organize your home. After all, a clean and organized home can make you feel more in control of your surroundings and not frantically searching for things when you need them. So, it is week three of January.... Is your home now organized? If not, here are some great ways to get started on your way to keeping your resolution.

Room by Room - When it comes to organizing, most people just don't know the best place to start and feel overwhelmed by trying to organize their entire home. A great organization strategy is to tackle one room at a time. Write down the list of rooms that really need help and then pick one room to get started. Once one room is completed, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment making it easier to move onto the next room.

Eliminate Clutter - as you review your closets, desk drawers or file cabinets, junk mail and other cluttered areas, throw out items you no longer need and donate clothes and shoes that deep down you know you will never wear again. The act of holding onto items you don't need is a huge barrier to your home organization. You will be amazed at how much cleaner and organized your home will feel by eliminating this unwanted clutter.

Incorporate Organization Tools - if your closet is a huge organizational nightmare, you might want to consider purchasing shoe and closet organizers to simplify your closet. For mail and bills, if they are all piled up on your kitchen table or counter, you are in need of a mail sorter or organizer to keep everything organized yet out of eye sight. And for those garages where you wish you could actually park a car in it, an ideal way to free up space is to incorporate cabinets, hooks and shelves.

Don't be afraid to take baby steps towards reaching your goal of an organized home. Clutter and disorganization can cause unneeded stress so your organized home will not only look great, but you will feel more relaxed and have more time to spend with your family and friends.
