Ways to be a Rainmaker, Listening to your Client...., I am not a big reader, I am changing that in my life. I am going to be readingseveral books and then sharing some info about the books with you. The first is "How to Become a Rainmaker" by Jeferey J. Fox. I just started this book and so far it is an excellent book. It starts of by stating a sales person Mantra: Great info. the one that tops my list (and there are several) is "Listen to Customers and Decipher their needs".
In the real estate industry we try to become Rainmakers, this one should mean a lot to people, because this is a place where a lot of fall short. I can not tell you how many times I meet with a client and they tell me that other agents just do not listen to them. So this is going to be my FOCUS. I will master this, to master this I am going to become the expert and also help others in the office to sit and listen to the clients.
How many times do you sit in a meeting with a client and ask a questionthen you answer it for your client... I am going to tell you to ask the question then "SHUT UP" I know harsh right... We teach my little girl not to say that, and she always tells us when we use the word and says "that's not a nice word" and we correct our selves. I will ask, do you ask a question and then keep talking??? STOP IT!! just STOP IT... ask the question then sit there and wait for the client to say something, take notes (there is nothing wrong with that, unless you do not use the notes), show you are listening by summarizing the answer, and ask "Did I understand that correctly?" then listen again. I promise people will think you are amazing.
To Become a Rainmaker, Master this and people will be amazed and will also remember you.
