Did you know that if you have a termite company that does not find all termite damage that you do have recourse? Yes, It is true.
According to Andy's Termite owner you do have help to termite companies that have made mistakes or overlooked termite damage. By the law, if the Termite company misses any damage, they must cover any missed damage in their report for up to one year by law.
Andy states that the best thing to do is call in another termite company to reinspect the property. Not all termite companies are willing to do this but for those that do this is called a police inspection. The cost is around $150.00 for a report.
Then the homeowner should take the report to the original termite company and ask them to fix any work they may have missed. Usually, at this point the Termite Company will cooperate with the Homeowner. Most termite companies are reputable and do miss work sometimes as an oversight.
If the Termite company still does not respond then the Homeowner can inform the Termite Company that they are going to go to the State of California and file a complaint on the Termite Company. This will usually end here, since the termite company does not want a violation from the State of California.
Termite companies are licensed and bonded under the State of California. Most termite companies are in business for the long run but occasionally you can fun across an unreputable company. I remember years ago a client had a neglectful termite company. Unfortunately, in the old days once the bond money was gone by claims the Homeowner had no recourse and then the Termite Company would move down the street and open under another name and owner. The State of California has much stronger laws and does enforce them currently. If you have any more termite questions, check our website at www.ilovepv.com
