Rosalinda -- This was very interesting.  I knew 'some' of this from my visits to LI through the years.  26 state parks?   1180 miles of coastline?  That's a LOT of  coves, harbors and inlets. You are so fortunate to have the Atlantic Ocean coastline. We only have LI sound here in CT, so it's a treat to go over to the ocean.

Barbara - My husband always said we have the best beaches, better than the Caribbean but I can't tell.  I've never been to the Caribbean.

Liz - For beach lovers, Long Island is a great place.  South Shore beaches are much better than the North Shore beaches which are too rocky. Yes, we have infamous people too but we don't care about them.
