Alright, off topic but really a lesson we all have been taught at an early age..."don't judge a book by its cover" !
I am sitting in my new office ( ColdwellBanker First Realty ) and notice this large truck has parked outside my window and instantaneously I burst out laughing and grab my camera....
You are kidding me right ???
It certainly got my attention, then I realized maybe it means something different than what I know the word to mean. A few doors down is a Latino Market with incredible foods and I realize they are making a delivery to this grocer!
That explains it, boy I feel ashamed ! I did "judge a book by its cover".
I walk down there and buy a loaf of Bimbo Bread ( repentance ? ) and guess what ??? It is delicious, sweet and soft.
Bye, bye Merita- I am over you and have a new Bimbo !
Certainly a lesson learned but as I think it over several days and many slices of bread later I realize there are many incidents throughout ones day that can bring one explaination to mind but really have another. It is about knowledge.... I didnt know about Bimbo Bakery which by the way is extremely successful. Don't we all tend to see from one perspective in our industry- our way ???
Take time today to make a mental shift and stop and think before you react-
" am I judging the book (situation) by it's cover "?? It can make all the difference!

Bill, got your attention didnt it! Mine too, but it really stuck with me how it means one thing to me and something sooooo different to another !!! ( my point of course! ) :-P
You are right- and they are bright- what a great marketing plan !! Driving around the US you gotta think this isnt the first time the truck gathered an english speaking crowd! ( I made my whole office come see what I was laughing at----can you say free advertising ? )
I had to look this up. The word "Bimbo" is actually a shortened version of the word "Bambino", which means small child. This company is actually quite large and provides some excellent authentic breads from Mexico. They bought out Mrs. Bairds a few years ago, which should give a good indication of their financial strength.
This is a good example of how we can judge something by our preset definitions. We could all open our minds and expand our horizons. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Michele, Ok, now tell me is that white bread, whole wheat or what? Is it anywhere besides the Latino market? I'm going to call my Mom and tell her to check this out today. As for your analogy, you're on target.
great name for a company, as i understand it the company is owned by all men and their wives and daughters are going into competition with them calling themselves the Bimbettes!
Ok, I saw this yesterday. I don't know if we have Bimbo here, but I am a Merita lover. I've instinctively grabbed it off the rack for years. I'll look the next time I'm at Albertson's.
Leigh---I'll be at the Miami game ! Lets meet up!! Call me or I'll call you early next week. Was suppose to leave today to go to Tampa w/ the team but pulled my name as Beau plays Fri and I have clients that I need to "wrap up".
