Craig, great tip for newbie. I not a newbie but never read the manual. I will check it out.
Great video there Craig! Paying it forward! Did you take classes at ActiveRain University? That's how I got my start; it was priceless - and completely free!
Ritu, I didn't know about the manual for the first year. It is lengthy, but detailed and helpful.
Ellen, no ARU for me, self taught and still learning. I have learned a lot from other members for FREE.
NOW I know what the "description" is for (from your other post and this one combined).

Arary, there is SO much that you will learn here in Active Rain. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Hold on for a great ride. Log in daily, read and comment daily and write a blog as often as you can. The commenting back and forth will help you build relationships and readers. Join groups. ypou can post a blog to five groups and gain more readers. Best wishes for success in the Rain.
Craig, Great post - thanks. You deserve more than 200 points!! Question: Do you type your blog in HTML or regular...
Dave, I use Scribefire (in Firefox) to type my blog. Then I drag it into the Active Rain blog writer in WYSIWYG. Then I use the WYSIWYG format for inserting pictures. If I need to insert a video, I will first save to draft, then switch to HTML. If you switch back to WYSIWYG after inserting a video link, you will lose the link.
Only 6 short months ago I wondered how to do most of these things myself. Now they are old hat, thanks to people like Craig who are not afraid to help those that need it. Thank you from all of us! thank also for posting how to get points. That baffled me for several months into it! Great re-blog for me.. very appropriate.
Craig, I found this post through Richard's re-blog. I have been inserting my pictures for quite some time. You answered a few questions I had. Now, I will be able to improve how I do it.
Richard, thank you for stopping by and re-blogging this to share with your readers.
Ken & Leslye, we all started at square one and most of us learned from practice. I was fortunate enough to have some help from a few members here. This community is full of support.
Donna, I learned to insert pictures first. That seemed like a challenge. Later, I learned how to use the "appearance" tabs to make them look better.
