For those of you who are curious to hear any new bit of information that's out there on it, here are a few from Top Producer's customer service manager, from Real Talk.

"One of the biggest benefits to the online version is going to be realized by our subscribers again this year; upgrades and enhancements are no additional charge. So, in a nutshell, the price will be the same for subscribers who hold a Top Producer 7i license prior to the 8i release. Although official pricing has not been decided, there will likely be a small increase for new 8i subscriptions. We haven't yet seen an increase in price for an agent license since Top Producer 7i was released in 2002.

There are many changes, most I will leave for our marketing department to disclose, but the program has been reworked top to bottom for functionality, workflow and features. The biggest change, in my opinion, is that the software is moving away from the Java platform. Eliminating the use of MS Java benefits those who use Sun Java, or don't use Java at all, and will make setup easier for new users or on new workstations."

Gary,

Any chance that you might know if the November 6 maintenance update will be the 8i release?

No, I don't. It's possible with NAR coming up next week, but they play that kind of thing very close to the vest - so even if I did know, I would not be authorized to relaese the info before they did.

Hey Gary,

Any idea about what will be the Smartphone of choice for the new TP 8i product?

I don't know that there is such a thing really. The PDA synching ability is based not on individual PDA's, but on the operating systems. Each OS has the same capabilities, regardless of the PDA it's in.

Thanks Gary

Maybe I should ask the questions differently. What would the optimal configuation be? (memory, OS, etc.,).   I've heard complaints about 7i in the Mobile Windows OS and some of the Treo models.

Also, have you noticed that Producer is spelled wrong in your blog title?

Hopefully, it will have a better customer interface.  The current one is a little clunky and looks like a agent database file.

Scott - what is it specifically that you don't like about it, and maybe I can let you know if it's changed.

Seems to still be very much up in the air. They don't want to release it until any bugs that remain are worked out.

will we be able to set up filters (incoming email from a particular sender or with a specific subject text auto go to specific folder)?

How about uploading interactive flyers in html format to various other websites?  maybe even with our market snapshot widget attached?

Sorry Lenny - filters have not been added.

Tina, I'm not clear on what you mean by uploading interactive fliers.

I am looking forward to 8i, I hope it is a little more colorful with improved features and new features.  The current platform is kind of boring to look at on the computer screen.

I have been using the beta 8i for a couple of months now and have found it to be slower than the 7i version.  So I am constantly going back to the Java platform 7i version which I am very used to.  It has frustrated to the point of working hard in getting outlook to do most of my work I really like the way AA for Outlook works and the synching to my Palm Treo.

I'd like to hear what other Active Agent for Outlook users think of the product.  I keep tying to work with Top Producer and I respect the power of the program but I spend a lot more time with Outlook - it just seems more productive.

Active Agent is a good program, but can't really be compared to Top Producer, with regards to functionality/capabilities. TP has a great deal of content (letters, fliers, post cards, activity plans). AA has none that comes with it, but like TP, my Trans-Plans are available for both.

AA has the ability to create activity plans too, and makes doing mail merges much easier. TP takes those capabilities and adds to them. The plans, as you complete them, become available as a Web page for the client to view 24/7, with their own password. It's all about bells and whistles. Will you use them......or not.

It really depends upon what you need your CRM solution to do for you. If your needs are relatively basic, which satisfies a great many agent's needs, then AA is fine. If you want more, then you start looking at other solutions.

I'm always happy to discuss in detail, the pros and cons of the different solutions. That's what I do!

Gary,

I didn't see your post before I did my own titled Top Producer 8i.  Sorry about that.. Any way, here is my delima.... I find myself going back and using 7i more so than 8i for the simple fact that I can not get the e-mail to open to a full screen as you can in 7i. Maybe it is a simple setting that I can't seen to locate.

Maybe you can start a 8i group and we can discuss these things and see what we like about the all new 8i.

 Thanks...... Roland

I just spoke with the sales department at Top Producer........he said 8i is already starting to roll out and people should be getting an e-mail explaining how to upgrade from 7i to 8i.  I am looking forward to it!
