Active Rain -- newbie tips # 6 --inserting a video into your blog

When someone is new to Active Rain, they may be looking for a starting point. Here are some quick suggestions

  • Log in every day (100 points). Blog daily (200 points each) Comment (25 points each).  Ten comments per day. Re blog (25 points). Invite others and get points from their activity. Points are given for updating your profile.
  • Like the name Active Rain says -- get Active. To learn more, read the manual.
  • Look in groups. Find some groups that interest you and join. Read, comment and post to those groups. Subscribe to blogs that you enjoy reading.
  • Not sure how to do something? Go to the "search" link at the top, type in a question or phrase and you will find a blog about it. Also look at the FAQ link at the bottom of the page. As you progress, it will get easier.

When you write a blog you may want to add a video to show what you are writing about. A video can give a much better detailed description of you message than plain text. Search engines look for videos over plain text so it will help if you add one.

I have put together a short video on how to add video to your blog using youtube.

Tom, it's all about action. People won't know we are here if we don't speak up.

Virginia, thank you. Having a video explanation helps make things look much easier.

I've got two video camera's but I'm not very good at using them yet. I should put that on a list somewhere of something new to learn.

Julie, play with the camera around the house first and get comfortable. Tape the kids, pets, spouse, house, yard, whatever and see what you like and what needs adjustment. Narrate your video. Then step out into the world and get some video Google juice.
