Today at Starbucks! lol

So today I went to the doctor and had my physical.

Dressed in sweats and a t-shirt (so I can do the doctor thing quickly).

Of course no food or coffee since midnight....

First off everything went fine at the doctors office. Then I decided to go to Starbucks.

I open the door and I hear a voice...."Charles???" is that you??? I had to laugh!

It was a good client of mine and she says "You are not in your usual attire"

Isn't this the case, as agents when we go out in public, we will never see someone and the day we look like hell, we run right into a client!!!

Way to start the day Charles!!! lol

EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE DAYS???

Lol, caught out of uniform huh?  I've had several instances like this happen Charles, and how!

lol. I think we have all been there. I think it is law that we must see someone in an embarrising moment. The same thing happened to me two weeks ago early sunday morning (like 620am) My wife asked me to go to Harris Teeter (grocery store) to get blueberries for pancakes for the kids. Guess who I see? an old client, funniest part is he was in biker shorts and a tank top so I didnt feel too bad.

No Charles, because I always look good.  LOL... It figures.  I would've said " It's been too hot to sleep in the suit, these days."

Now you have an idea how Women feel when we are caught without our make-up on.  I run with my business cards and a little lip gloss, powder and mascara on just in case. Made some nice leads on the track.

Been there - done that!  Once I tried to hide in the frozen food section and lingered over the ice cream section for too long...My kids started yelling, "Mom, either pick out the ice cream or not!  We're freezing!"  I was caught in the bakery department only 30 yards from the cashier and my exit.  DANG - don't you hate when that happens?  Well, it only goes to show you're human.

Charles - I remember a few months ago, my little one was sick, I had been up all night with him. I was exhausted and ran out of Motrin and had to go to the store. My hair was in total disaray, no make -up and I was dressed like a bum. As a matter of fact I had my husbands boxers on and a t-shirt that if I didnt pull up the t-shirt you would have sworn I had no pants on. I turn an aisle to find my clients/sellers in which I was selling their $600,000 home....oh how I wanted to crawl under a shelf....we laughed and it just went to show that even Realtors are human !

Melissa - come on, you looking like a bum, I can not believe that, you always look good!

Great one Charles!  Had that happen a few days ago when I went to the office after hours.  I had planned to just run in and run out.  Nobody would see me...WRONG!!!!!  They laughed about me being "human" after all and not always dressed in a suit with "R" on my chest and cape.  Still, wished I hadn't been "caught".

09/19/2007 09:25 AM by Jessica Horton (Brio Realty)

Jessica - we all get caught! good to see you back on my blog! I am working on those little signs all over town.....wink, wink....

09/19/2007 09:28 AM by Charles McDonald / Your Trusted Agent for Charlottesville Real Estate (RE/MAX Assured Properties)

Charles:  yeah I know...i've been a stranger.  Just got  a lot going on and a lot of big and tough decisions to make.  Really haven't had time to get on here but I miss all of you guys bunches!

You keep working on those little signs!  They will pay off for you!

09/19/2007 09:31 AM by Jessica Horton (Brio Realty)

When I am casual I am dressed in cognito big glasses and hat. I never get caught.

Charles,  It's amazing how they picture us as always being the formally dressed professional who is all business.

I had a client who was shocked to hear that I love camping and actually sleep in a tent !!  She couldn't imagine me sleeping in a tent....    ((-:

Jessica - thanks partner, best of luck, things always work out. I will be posting a new blow soon on "perspective" hope you get a chance to see it...

09/19/2007 09:33 AM by Charles McDonald / Your Trusted Agent for Charlottesville Real Estate (RE/MAX Assured Properties)

Yes, and I have never been so embarrassed! I ran into a potential client I had been working with for awhile at Trader Joe's and she actually came up to me and asked if it was really me!! Her comment was, "You don't even look like the Jennifer I know". I was in cut-off shorts, tank top, Birkenstocks with no make-up and a messy ponytail. But it was obviously shocking to her. I'm usually pretty polished. I haven't called her since.

Charles,

It's always at times like that you run into someone.  The one time I had to run into the store for a couple of things and I had just been up at the barn.  I smelled like a horse, you might say, and I had on my barn clothes.  Guess who I meet?  You guessed it.

Charles,

Great post. You're only human! I met a lead there once in shorts and flip-flops and sold them a house 3 months later. Sweats or suite you're out there where people can see you.

Charles,

Arthur and I go to Gold's Gym and dress for the "occasion".  Twice now I have encountered clients there.  Of course, they dress just the same.  We are so busy congratulating each other on going to the gym we don't even notice how we are dressed, Karen

Charles:

I wouldn't miss it for the world.  All my big decisions that I am pondering have to do with "perspective".  So, you've got one reader and I am sure that I will flag it for you!

Take care,

Jessica

Jennifer - Oh, just call her!!!

Danielle - Agreed!

Mike - excellent additude!

Karen - I knew we had more in common, I also goto GOLD's!

Jessica - thanks, take care

Charles, I think we all get caught at one point.  It's always more entertaining to find someone else with their "hair down" so to speak.  Inevitable.

Hi Charles - You always know how to make us smile.

First, I am glad everything went well at your doctor appointment.  Second,  Ha...I would love to say this has never happened to me!  Glad I am not the only one.  :)

It always happens doesn't it? You just never know when someone will see you in a down moment and the image they "had" of you goes right out the window!

Janice - who are you kidding? you always look fabulous!!!

Gaylen - it does always happen!

Funny I posted something today about an incident I witnessed that should remind everyone about our behavior in public.   I don't think sweatpants will get you in to much trouble.  Now if it had been a speedo!

eh - I ran into a client while a sweaty mess on the treadmill at the gym.  We chatted; I figured out when she went to gym so now I go earlier before she gets there!

Charles - Thats Murphy's law working it's magic. I have had the same thing happen to me...it can be a little awkward.

09/19/2007 08:52 PM by Bill Gassett Metrowest Massachusetts Real Estate (RE/MAX Executive Realty)

THAT is why I won't even come upstairs from my bedroom in the morning without eye make-up on! No matter what I am wearing, the hair must be done and the eye make-up on!!! That is the kind of thing that would happen to me if I even walked to the mailbox!!!

09/19/2007 09:57 PM by Barbara-Jo & Bill - - Florida Realty Professional - AHWD (Charles Rutenberg Realty)

Bill - odds are it will happen!

Barbara Jo and Bill - I take it that was Bill's comments??? lol

09/20/2007 06:05 AM by Charles McDonald / Your Trusted Agent for Charlottesville Real Estate (RE/MAX Assured Properties)

That's funny!  Long ago I decided to dress the same whenever I went out of the house. I ALWAYS wear a neat ponytail and match the ponytail holder to the color of attire i have on. Casual blouse and slacks or capri with my Clarke's sandals. How's that. Never out of uniform...because it's basically the same.
