ONE MISTAKE AFTER ANOTHER... WILL IT EVER END?????

One mistake after another.. will it ever end? We are supposed to be there for our clients and to make sure deals work. Do we need to be there and do the work of the other agent as well?

I received a call to set up a showing for a rental property of mine. Sounds good doesn't it? Not if the caller is working with another agency. I couldn't believe they were trying to set up their own appointment. Nicely, I informed them that since they have a realtor, I need to work through them. I'm be more than happy to set it up, once I hear from them.

The next day, I receive a call and set up the appointment for this person. Everything settled, right? NOT. The other agency is now telling me that their client has to use *their* rental application, not ours. lol. The other agent was promptly made aware of OUR office policy where we use our application, and we process the credit report. He told me that this is unheard of.

We finally made it over this hump, so I thought until this morning. I received word that the application was going to be dropped off at our office, this is good. However, they did NOT have a check to cover the cost of the processing of the report (big RED flag here), but would be glad to give us their charge card number instead.

I told them we only take checks or cash. This did not go over well, and at this point is a dead deal.

Has any one else run into such a mess when it comes to trying to rent a property? Loved to hear your stories.

Rentals typically get a lot of activity especially if you use Craigslist. Too many red flags...next!

Valerie, many people feel rules are made to be broken, or are only suggestions. But when you are playing in the rental sandbox you really do have to listen to the listing agent. Your situation has too many red flags for my taste.

I have had agents try to bulldoze over me, or try to, over rentals. Go figure.... bullying me, or trying to bully the owner won't go far.

Larry.. I did not use Craigslist this time. I've had toooo many issues in the past with this form of adveritising. Can you believe these issues? How many red flags can one see in this scenerio?

Diane... Rentals *can be* frustrating. What would be nice is to have the Realtor working for the potential renter know what they are doing... and what their job is.

Victor.. I have a laugh here. Off the record.. LOL. The Realtor for the renter works for Prudential here in CT.

Andrea.. There are more RED flags here than there were in the USSR. LOL. I nicely sent an email to the "potential renter" explaining that I ethical can not work with him, but will work with his realtor.

What gets me, is the renter thinks "I'm" the one with the issues. LOL.

Valerie sometimes people get too into themselves. There is a problem with the client trying to bypass the agent and the agent trying to control the transaction. If this were to go through the owners could have problems quickly with a tenant that isn't paying the rent. Better luck with the next one.
