Hello, Friends & Neighbors!

I hope you’re all having a wonderful winter! I know if you live in Colorado and you’ve paid any attention to the weather reports from most other parts of the nation, you’re happy that we’ve had an easy winter.

As we make our way together through January, don’t forget those who aren’t having such an easy time. Even though it’s not the holiday season, food banks still need donations and helpers, and maybe your own neighbors could use a helping hand now and then.

Do You Still Want to Buy a House or Sell a House?

In reviewing my files for 2010 (my best year ever, BTW!) I noticed several that were started for people thinking of buying or selling a house, who ended up deciding to put it off.

If you’re in that boat, now is the time to get the ball rolling again!

If you want to sell your house some time this year, now is the time to get a market analysis, and get professional opinions on what you can do to make your house more ‘sellable’.  Information is power, I always say!

If you want to buy a house, now is the time to have your financial situation reviewed, so you can make any changes that might be necessary. If you’re ready to go financially, talk to me about when it is a good time to start looking at homes.

Remember, I only take 3 active listings and 3 active buyers at a time, so I can give each of you the personal attention you deserve!

Anticipating a remodel project this spring?

First, check with me so I can help you determine which improvements would bring you the greatest value for resale purposes.

Second, talk to Christine Jensen at the Arvada Branch of Cherry Creek Mortgage, near 80th & Wadsworth.  Christine has been telling me about a great loan type that allows you to finance your 1st mortgage plus up to $35,000 for improvements, all in one loan!  Imagine financing the cost of improvements with a low mortgage rate, rather than the 21.9% that you might pay on a Lowe’s or Home Depot credit card.

You can use a loan like this for financing a new purchase, too, if you need extra money to do some repairs.  Call or email Christine to get more information on how this remodel loan works.  303.456.4403 or CJensen@ccmcLending.com

“We found a wonderful wine restaurant in Parker called Vines.  The food is wonderful and between 4:00 and 6:00 every day the glasses of wine are 1/2 off.  Yum.”   Pamela

“We’ve been attending Jericho Ministries marriage seminars, and they have helped our relationship bloom. I highly recommend them. The next one is the second weekend in February. Check them out at www.jerichoministries.org/currentconferences.htm” Carole

“Hi Joetta, Jack 'n Grill has really good burgers :) (92nd and Sheridan) We went to Jack-n-Grill last nite for burgers, and I met the owner, Jack. He was very nice, talked about how "Man Versus Food" did an episode on them (their 7-pound breakfast burrito is shown in the opening credits), how his wife decorates the restaurant and their motto "food is love made visible.

Anyway, their food is soooo good. We've had the same server, Danise, a couple of times, and she's wonderful and personable, remembered our soda preferences even! Their burgers are huge, reasonably priced, everything's homemade. Their New Mexican fare is delicious -- fresh, quality, yummy. That's my restaurant review! :)

And for "wildlife spottings" -- I wish these pooping-monster geese would leave our street :( “  Susan

(Note to Susan - your wish is granted, the geese are gone!)

“Talk about wildlife sightings!  A couple of weeks ago my garage was open and I thought I saw a cat run in and under the car.  I started to say “hey, kitty,” but then I noticed that its tail was very big and bushy, and it must be a fox; I ran into the garage to see, but it was gone by then – I must have startled it as much as it startled me.  A few days later I saw a red fox sitting on the sidewalk near a tree on 72nd Avenue, just watching the traffic flow by.  Then a couple of days ago I saw a fox running across my neighbor’s yard.  That’s a lot of fox sightings for one person within two weeks!”      *Senator Evie Hudak

“Join us for a fun girl-time – a Cookie Lee Jewelry Fashion Show! Saturday, February 5, shop from 1-4, fashion show is at 2:00. Trinity Presbyterian Church at 78th and Wadsworth. View the catalog at www.cookielee.biz/cindystrain.” Cindy

*BTW readers, did you know 3 million acres of public land and over 4 million acres of mineral rights in Colorado are used to generate revenue for Colorado schools? I had no idea, but learned about it when I read about two bills sponsored by Senator Hudak and Rep. Summers, that will improve oversight of these lands and increase transparency. Thanks Wayne, have a great day.

Laura - I started out doing a farm of 600 homes, when I was brand new and had no money for marketing. So I hand-delivered to all those homes for three months. The third month, I asked people to let me know if they wanted to keep receiving them. Then I started snail mail to those, about 200. But I continually pressed for people to give me email addresses, eventually converting almost everyone to email. Now, I add people constantly to the email database, occasionally I add someone to the snail mail database. I mail via USPS 32 newsletters, and send several hundred via email, and several hundred more are seen on blog posts.

BTW - when I am short of news, I send out an email about a week ahead asking if anyone has input.

Son goes to school in Colorado Springs at CC and get the weather reports. Maine has had a snow drought in Northern sections and wished we were getting more to play on, in.

I think I remember reading a post by you, about bringing your son to CO for school. Is Maine cold, even without the snow? Here, when we don't have a storm passing through it's in the 40s and 50s, and January is our coldest month.
