Why You List, Market, Sell Real Estate And Do You Consider You Have The Best Job In The World?

By
Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

It all started as a little kid when you started to develop skills, likes, dislikes and polished your abilities heading in to the career of real estate.

surprised chicklet Do you consider you have the best job in the world working in real estate? What drives the process and where is the kick beyond the monetary compensation? Serving others is noble and helping real estate buyers and sellers part of it.

But do you consider you are not pinned to the wall by an office desk all day long, are out in the community?

Writing up property listings on a new home kitchen table. Off then to  pounding in a couple yard signs on the way to a real estate closing busy.

Suggesting improvements needed and others the seller was ready to do that are not going to come back in the sale and make a difference guidance. Being at the lake showing several waterfront properties while maine ladies softball teamthe birds sing, sun shines. Not tramped in an office or in traffic in a small rural real estate market. And not just listing, selling one type of property.

Being able to market in a different way than a house, home the new mom and pop grocery corner store with overhead living quarters. Collecting three years or more of schedule C's to help promote the place, paint the financial picture of the business listing. Then off to study a long road frontage land acreage with a surveyor. To create a small subdivision for recreational acreage buyers down country wanting a small piece of land to run away from the city on three day weekends, vacations to keep their sanity.

Measure, shooting images, video clips for a yesteryear Victorian listing. Touring an apartment complex the maine bar harbor harbor photosbuyer's bean counter, er accountant said to be on the look out for to invest in. Something different real estate wise and serving on local community events, civic service club functions and fund raisers means never a dull moment.

If you can live on commission piece meal, juggle lots of listings and sales and get along with people, there is no better job than being a real estate agent, broker, REALTOR in any market and economy. None in my opinion.

If you have fire in your belly, are not lazy, the job of real estate is a sport.

Something that gets in to your system, that you can not wait to wake up, jump out of bed and get to work for another day of action packed adventure. Helping angry folks not mad at you but frustrated with the rest of the world become calm again.

Negotiating the sale when both sides want to kill each other and taking it way too personal. But being a Dr maine fall lake photosPhil to make it work, come together. Working with the out of state family with the estate sale of a recently deceased parent, loved one.

Taking care of loose ends in your home town for them, getting ready to market, finding the buyer and sliding the keys across the long imitation real estate closing table.

Why do you sell real estate?

And do you find the social media and technology fascinating or tedious?

Do you reinvent the real estate marketing you do to keep it cutting edge and interesting or are you biding your time, past your prime and had it up to here with people, the public?

Maine, wake up, start living your dream.

Very nice post. We all should focus on the joys of real estate and how nice it is to help people buy or sell a home and know that you did a good job in a very tough market.

I love the view of your trees and lake pictures! I'll have to make it to Maine so that I can enjoy that scenery there.

There is no better job than real estate. It is fun, challenging, it affords a lifetime of opportunities to learn, to grow as a person, to become more professional, deal with new technology, meet some exciting people, and focus perhaps on the areas of real estate that you find most rewarding, such as investors, first time home buyers, residential, commercial, even dabbling in fixers your self, etc.

Basically, learn your niche and make things happen! You never have anyone to blame but yourself, since you are your own boss in the end.

Good attitude John. That is why you are still at it and smiling brightly. I got in in 1980, the best time to take it serious with 16% variable interest rates and oil embargos. You can make a good living if you adjust the sails for the wind you do have if you see the direction, stick with it through thick and thin. Or as Travis Tritt sings "where corn don't grow."

Paul... Amen and you are preaching to the choir on this one. Have to be in it for the long haul, to strive to work hard. All the time and not prone to whining, finger pointing or just doing what others in the herd around the water cooler suggest. Self start and reinvent the industry to keep current with the changes a big key to success inside and out.

Andrew,

You touched on the thing I love the most about real estate - Freedom. I spent 6 years working in a government cubicle in DC, and it was misery. I love being out and about each day, and especially the busy days when you find yourself trying to move at the speed of light.

Lou... you get the gold star the size of Texas for postive spirit, can do attitude wisdom. Glad you are in the AR flanks, serving in the ranks.

Virginia... Can you really breath in 8x10 surroundings and all that flourescent light radiation? I love being in the community..literally knee deep involved and feeling connected, off the phone and helping neighbors, friends, family. Small town is home made, not store bought and there is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer. Was listing a Maine lake second home, doing a BPO along the way, setting up an appraisal on the cell in the middle of no where and in the middle of nature, wildlife. With lots to do, not geting bored or wondering if it makes a difference or not. Folks need you, me, the many folks wearing "R"'s.

GOOD MORNING ANDREW!  Freedom and the ability to do something different all the time.  Learning different things and being in awe of all the constant changes and updates with social media - although it does get challenging to keep up - at least there is something to keep up with! -- G

Gabrielle ... thanks for popping, stopping in. If you are looking for something different, did you get the Active Rain Bob Stewart memo about mandatory daily Zumba?
