It all started as a little kid when you started to develop skills, likes, dislikes and polished your abilities heading in to the career of real estate.
Do you consider you have the best job in the world working in real estate? What drives the process and where is the kick beyond the monetary compensation? Serving others is noble and helping real estate buyers and sellers part of it.But do you consider you are not pinned to the wall by an office desk all day long, are out in the community?
Writing up property listings on a new home kitchen table. Off then to pounding in a couple yard signs on the way to a real estate closing busy.Suggesting improvements needed and others the seller was ready to do that are not going to come back in the sale and make a difference guidance. Being at the lake showing several waterfront properties while the birds sing, sun shines. Not tramped in an office or in traffic in a small rural real estate market. And not just listing, selling one type of property.
Being able to market in a different way than a house, home the new mom and pop grocery corner store with overhead living quarters. Collecting three years or more of schedule C's to help promote the place, paint the financial picture of the business listing. Then off to study a long road frontage land acreage with a surveyor. To create a small subdivision for recreational acreage buyers down country wanting a small piece of land to run away from the city on three day weekends, vacations to keep their sanity.
Measure, shooting images, video clips for a yesteryear Victorian listing. Touring an apartment complex the buyer's bean counter, er accountant said to be on the look out for to invest in. Something different real estate wise and serving on local community events, civic service club functions and fund raisers means never a dull moment.
If you can live on commission piece meal, juggle lots of listings and sales and get along with people, there is no better job than being a real estate agent, broker, REALTOR in any market and economy. None in my opinion.
If you have fire in your belly, are not lazy, the job of real estate is a sport.
Something that gets in to your system, that you can not wait to wake up, jump out of bed and get to work for another day of action packed adventure. Helping angry folks not mad at you but frustrated with the rest of the world become calm again.Negotiating the sale when both sides want to kill each other and taking it way too personal. But being a Dr Phil to make it work, come together. Working with the out of state family with the estate sale of a recently deceased parent, loved one.
Taking care of loose ends in your home town for them, getting ready to market, finding the buyer and sliding the keys across the long imitation real estate closing table.
Why do you sell real estate?
And do you find the social media and technology fascinating or tedious?
Do you reinvent the real estate marketing you do to keep it cutting edge and interesting or are you biding your time, past your prime and had it up to here with people, the public?
Maine, wake up, start living your dream.
