Study finds more young kids can work a smartphone than tie their shoes..

At first I was speechless when I read this headline..a quick summary, AVG did a study that polled 2,200 mothers who owned 2-5 year olds. 19% of the children could play with their parent's IPhone app, 9% could tie their own shoelace. Click here to read the original article.

It's true - and I see it all the time - my 5year old niece whips my IPhone screen around like somethin FIERCE!! And I think she got in late in the game. In FACT, the other day, I saw a woman pushing her baby in a stroller down the street - and what's on the baby's lap? A freaking laptop - playing a movie.

That made me sort of sad....

So yes, like I said, it's true - technology is everywhere - it will continue to grow and improve and it's gonna get more and more amazing every day!

Do I think it's bad that the youth is embracing technology so well?   Part of me thinks it's really exciting!! Fast forward 20 - 30 years - that's when those tech-fingered babies will be adults - doctors, scientists, computer programmers... we're gonna see some crazy stuff, I'm sure!

But I also think it's important to balance these entertainments with some of the more social activities. My worry is that kids are missing out of some life training. Make your kids go outside and play, ride a bike, fly a kite (fun!!) - try to show them how the feeling of sun and fresh air feels. (Just like we did back in the old days!!)

What do you guys think? Exciting or really horrifying?

Whatever happens.. I think we all agree... it's going to be a very interesting time!

I'll go make popcorn! :)

HAHA yup I could see this as being true! Of coures I don't exactly think this is a good thing unless their planning a future in real estate but I doubt a 4 yr old knows that. It's also horrifying that only 30% of college graduates in 2010 found jobs.

Is it any wonder...?   We created the Technology, I think we are still its master.

Some kids I see today are miles ahead of where we were... its going to be good.

Emily, I think everything has to be done in moderation. Personally I think kids need to be kids.  They need to be outside playing.  That said it is also important that they be acquainted with technology at a young age as it is the age we live in.
