What are your favorite tools to dig up your car from under the snow?

My personal favorite is a rubber broom. They come up under a few different names: "as seen on TV", "rubber push broom", "All in one rubber broom", "One sweep", and "rubba sweepa" (that's mine).

It's all the same thing: a broom with a rubber head, one one side there are bristles, on the other a squeegee. It takes globs of snow away in one single sweep. Works perfect not only on windows, but takes snow off the roof of the car, because it has the long handle. Rubber bristles will never damage the surface or freeze and become an unusable mess.

Lightweight and fun to use. snowfall in natick ma

They come in a few colors (mostly grey, black and navy blue), but I found a pretty purple one.

As a side bonus, you can sweep stone, cement, brick surfaces effectively, plus without a disheartening sound a shovel makes. Rubber brush works best in walkways after a low snow fall, or if you are willing to run out and sweep a few times during a big snowfall, that we are expecting again here in MA, by the way.

This tool costs from 15 to 35 (depends on the brand name, plus shipping and handling, if any), and serves well for a few years. My first one died after 5 years of duty.

Of course this broom has its limitations. It will not get rid of ice on your windows, for example, you still need to use the scraping tool for that. But it's a small trade off, in my eyes.

Now, what's your favorite snow removal tool that helps you set your car free?

I start my car and really heat it up before I even give it a shot.  But a broom works well, especially with a lot.  Otherwise, I use my hand (gloved of course).

Anna, I moved to Houston and that took care of that problem.  I miss the beautiful fall colors I got up north but I don't miss the snow and yuck.

how about a sign rider?  when I don't have the scraper, I use an "open house" rider!  It is wide, so it works well...or just file folders work too!

Last week, I broke down and bought a heavy duty, jumbo scraper!

Pamela, I hate using my gloves, then they get wet...

Fortunately, in Arizona I don't have to worry about this anymore!  However, I remember using my credit card as a windshield scraper one too many times in my life!

Ugh,

That's why I moved to SE, FL in 2003...so tired of the snow and freezing rain...love it here in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Looks like the best solution is just moving to a place with better climate, lol! Pat, a sign rider as a scraper is clever!
