54 Comments on Other Points Mystery-The Secret is well kept
Hey Jim, Unfortunately, I haven't had a featured post yet. It appears that most "other points" are gathered by simply logging in each day. Some AR members don't even blog but are leaders in the leader board simply due to their lenght in AR and logging in. All the best to you. DJ
Debbie Jean,
I was wondering the same question when I came upon your post. My number 9 contender has all of his points as other point with no blogs. What gives? I think the weighting system needs to be reexamined. Oh well, It looks like I have to get to blogging even harder. lol
Hi Debbie Jean,
Thanks for the post! I think I now understand other points.
It is also interesting to watch the flow of ideas as they moved from points to how active people are on AR. Thanks again and Have a Great Day!
Good to know how to rack up Other points. Thanks for checking it out.
Unfortuantely, some AR members are consistantly hitting 100s of points per day and at the top 10 in my city without a single blog... the log in bonus points of 100 is not the key. Keep searching and good luck.
I'm glad to have read this post and the comments. I too have been wondering about the 'Other Points'. Not so much when they are a part of someone's Point Summary, but I have seen many where the only source of points is the Other category. Didn't make sense. Thanks for sharing some valuable information.
Hi Debbie Jean,
I've only been a member of AR for 4 days now and I do admit that the points have captured my attention within my market area. However, I am still not sure how the point ranking has anything to do with what you should focus on reaping out of belonging to AR.
I am still a bit "scared" of jumping in to posting a blog--I am new to this, and have been speniding much time and thought on what to write about before I actually dive-in and do it.
I do believe that the blogging will help to grow your business much more than a "ranking status" on this site could ever do. I don't beleive the public will give a hoot about where we stand amongst eachother. I truly hope and believe it is bigger than that. If I discover that this is not the case, I don't think I will stay here much longer, or invest the time and effort here. If it's just about how we rank amongst ourselves, this is not the place I want to be.
I am guessing Other Points envolve $$$. 2 new agents in my market just shot up the rankings. Kinda want to catch them, but I am actually selling real estate everyday.. We'll see...
Dear Debbie Jean - I just found this when I did a search trying to figure out the various categories & did't really know how the other fell either. I am going to try to "suggest" & may be re-blog for some of us that new like myself. Thanks for being brave to ask...we are all a bit like good students who are striving to know how help & please & of course may be get an A or graduate :). Now if there were scholarships then wouldn't that be awesome, but I guess that is where the system rewards after you reach certain levels of points.... Thank you again!!
I was looking for this answer so I found it by searching in the search field of AR to find this post. I am not sure if getting your post featured counts or not.
i loves me some 'other' points!
Who do you complain to if you did not get the points from a contest you did?
Here is a neat little note on "Other Points". i was curious aobut this as well so I googled "Other Points: Active Rain" and you came up first in google. By default you might just be the go to person on this subject do to your placement on google. Thanks for the writing the post, it helps us new Active Rain Members out. Feel free to share if you find out more, I will do the same.
Log in is not the key. Its something else and even I am looking for a specific answer.
Let's see... 100 points per day for logging in is 36,500 points per year. So, a member for three years who never blogs or comments or does ANYTHING else but login daily to check their points, gets over 100,000 points. THAT is the SECRET!
They are just playing us. It is really not important. You should be listing and selling. But "they" know we are vain and like this point thing.
it is important to know.
I just looked up how the #1s in my area got points,
some were consistently blogging and commenting.
Some got 'other points',
I picked just few names from 100k+ and I'd love to know how someone with 0 blog posts or comments got those 100k points?
Please, educate!
:)
I'm still wondering about 'other points'.
I noticed some ARers never blog or leave comments, yet they have a lot of 'other points'( 100,000+). It is not invite points, not log in points, so what are they?
Has anyone figured out yet how to get the Other Points. I log in daily and my points are not accumulating. I have 951 blogs and still others with little blogging are catching up with me???? What can be done to accumulate the Other Points??
After much research on this topic, I still cannot figure it out. I am a blogger though not every day. I do try to log in every day though. We are busy realtors and our assistants should have the duty of blogging for us, if we are lucky to have an assistant. Oh yeah... duh... that would be me. LOL.
