John Marshall  posted this blog recently that I surely can relate to. If we serve people, we can sell. Simple concept. I once heard a motivational say something very similar. "IF WE CAN HELP, WE CAN SELL!" Thank you John!

Serve. Don't Sell! Have you ever noticed what makes a good salesperson, think back to any transaction you have had where you bought something and the transaction was not only pleasant, but you did not feel like you were even being "sold" anything. The chances are that the "salesperson" was very good at serving your needs, not being pushy and not trying to sell you on anything. Finding your real needs and really listening to what you are saying. The world is full of salespeople but very few salespeople are in sales to serve their clientele.

A server really does want what is best for their client, so much so that it might mean referring them to someone that can better serve their needs, or even finding out the client would be better off, not making a purchase.

A salesperson will talk without listening, they will not take notes and they will ask you "leading" questions, or questions where the answer is always yes, hoping that you will brainwash yourself into saying yes at the critical moment when they absolutely need to "close" the sale.

Personally I do not care for salespeople, I try to avoid them and I dislike being "techniqued" or pitched too. I assume since I do not like being treated this way most others do not like to be treated this way either. I could be wrong and if I am then I would probably not be a good fit as an agent that can take care of your needs, I will gladly direct you to someone that knows all of the sales techniques. However if you prefer to be served professionally, listened to and treated like you deserve to be treated, feel free to give me a call and if I can not serve your needs I will find an agent with similar character that will, I know plenty of then also.

Salemans to me does not mean loud plaid jacket with too short arms, tightly buttoned when a customer comes in. Not a master arm twister, no smoke and mirror razzle dazzle got to head out back to talk to my manager and lots of winching. A salemans save the buyer, seller time, knows the product backwards and forwards and delivers. Does not use three little words much (I don't know). Works hard, is consistent and fun to work with but thinking of others, not self serving. You can not fake that.
