Special offer

I don't like those deadline demands

Jason Crouch recently wrote a great blog on offers with deadlines included.  I suggest you read it so I have included a link to it.

I made some comments but this is something has bugged me for years so thought I would write about this issue in more detail.

When I receive an offer with a deadline for responding I think it set a bad tone from the beginning.  I also think this is a practice agents adopt as a way of doing business, they do not even get approval from the buyer, they just put the deadline in.

Since an offer can be withdrawn any time prior to it being accepted why  start off the process with this demand?

Hi Richard... I think you are right about deadlines setting the tone for the transaction.  If buyers are so quick to force a deadline for acceptance I just wonder how cooperative they will be to work with for the balance of the transaction.

Steve,

Thanks for your comments.  When I see that demand in a contract my first thought is how difficult is the other agent going to be.
