If you are looking for a friendly place to sit read your newspaper, or use the wifi to check your email on your laptop in
West Los Angeles, then
Peet's is the place.
First opened in 1966 in Berkeley, CA by Alfred Peet,
Peet's Coffee and Tea became a gathering place for coffee lovers. Alfred Peet actually mentored the founders of Starbucks and supplied them with the coffee for their first three years in business.
There are approximately nine stores on the Westside of
Los Angeles, but the one I frequent is by far the best.

Located at 1854 Westwood Blvd. (just south of Santa Monica Blvd.) this
Peet's is a true neighborhood cafe. The baristas are extremely friendly and know all their regular customers by name. The store is a magnet for the locals and if you sit there long enough, someone you know will come in. You may even have time to talk to them if you can tear yourself away from the friends you have made there.
The Artisan baked goods are kosher and include an array of muffins, croissants, scones and Danish.
Next time you are in the
West Los Angeles area, do drop in and say hello.
Oh, and did I mention the coffee is absolutely delicious.

It's all we brew here at home, Jane. ;-)
Jane - I have been a Peetnic for years, since 1990, adn we used to order our coffee monthyl from them. Stopped that a year ago but it is still the best coffee. Sorry, Starbucks, but it is.
Jeff
Hi Jane, So this is where all the smart people go to hang out, drink delicious coffee and meet Jane Peters, their new connection to the Los Angeles Real Estate scene! Peet's sounds like a great place, I could have used some of their coffee this morning!
Nice thumbs up to the coffee shop - so Starbucks still has some competition :)
Jane, Peet's does have good coffee although my favorite is Tully's...too bad they don't have very many locations and we moved away from the one we used to go to in Pleasanton, CA. :(
Leilani
Jane - I found a Peet's in a local market ... across the parking lot from Starbucks! Great coffee, lower price ... and NO LINE! Thanks Jane ... let's keep them in business!
Look at you gettin all HyperLocal ! Very nice spotlight Janey ! Now I need me a Latte !!!
Cheers !
This sounds like a great place to relax or just get some work done, Jane. Not too many small businesses can say they mentored a business juggernaught like Starbucks!
Jane - Peet's sounds like a great place to grab a coffee and muffin, then sit back and relax or even work.
Over 40 years in business says a whole lot about their customer service. This is the type of business that I like to watch while dining, a great way to get ideas for my business.
David, which blend?
Jeff, isn't it just!
Mary, maybe I can take you there on your next visit :)
Liz, and how!
Leilani, I think I have had Tully's and it is also good.
Jack, glad you have a local one.
Sheldon, :) Hope you found your caffeine fix.
Bruce, interesting fact that.
Michelle, this particular one has a great atmosphere. Conducive to both work and play.
Leolinda, they have great service, which is excellent for business.
David, that's the one I used to get when I was making it at home.
Jane~ Nice looking localism!!!
Kim, thank you.
Looks like a spotless clean place and that means if I am ever in the area I will stop by Peets. Very nice loacalism post.
You gotta love a place with that kind of staying power. They've obviously embraced change ( the way our industry has to do) with moving from a 1966 coffee shop and the statbucks tie in... WOW.
Very impressive.....mentored Starbucks! The photo of the gang is very cute!
Jim, let me know when you are here, we can meet for the best coffee :)
Tammy, there is just something about Peet's. Can't put my finger on it.
Ann, they are a lot of fun.ap
