I just read a really interesting piece through a newsletter subscription that I have through Internet Marketing Secrets.  It's SEO buff Michael Cambell's weekly newsletter.

He's always been big on affiliate marketing, and adsense revenue strategies through solid SEO techniques.  I used to be a big time SEO geek that would read anything I could get my hands on, but lately I've been so busy, my affiliate marketing side business has been at a stand still.

But something about Michael's newsletter hit me... maybe it was the title: "1,200 New Visitors in 7 days, all treat, no tricks"

...I read on...

You can read the article yourself here, but I'll just summarize it for you.

The basic idea is to find a niche within YouTube, create a video about it, and then direct people to your website with a short advertisement at the end of the video.

Michael's strategy was to create a video about how to groom a cat.  He then proceeded to place an affiliate link at the end of the video (I assume for cat grooming products).  He claims that he made close to $500 in less than a week.

It is definitely a good idea if you have time to mess around with affiliate links, and editing video.  But, it really just got me thinking about the real estate industry... and how a similar idea might be used to promote listings, or simply promote yourself.

Maybe a dog grooming video could drive some traffic???  food for thought

Been there... doing that!  (Since Dec '05).

If you craft your descriptions properly, they're great.  Check out this Google search result for Hudson New Hampshire House for Sale.  Look at #5 and #7.... both video listings.. both are for me and both for are my listings... Page 1 of Google! And it's not just a mention of my site... it's a one way LINK to my site. And it's not just YouTube, but Google Video, Yahoo Video, Blip.TV, Grouper, iFilm and a host of others....

Interesting concept, and living in Las Vegas we have a ton of video content. I'll add this to the list of items to fit into the 2007 marketing plan.

This is really interesting. I agree that this stuff works. People online, really came up with these things that would outwit people in a lot of queer but brilliant ways.

I looked at Utube, not many realtors out there from my area.  Now I just have to figure out how to do it!

overgroomedI like the idea a lot myself and it's now on my (438 line long) list of things to check out.  As for the dog grooming, Enoch shies away from that now since his last experience.  I didn't have a good connection on the mobile phone when they called me.  I told them to "bathe him".  They asked where I said "all over" (duh).  I guess they thought I said shave him"?  Poor Knock Knock.  I caught them just in time to save that last patch on his butt...

I've been using Youtube for marketing since the beginning of 2006. The sweet days are over but there's still money to be made but not close to what it used to be. I made 6700$ on my best month. But these days just suck... I'm at about ~1500$/month now.

In addition to affiliate marketing don't forget cross promotion to list owners of similar genre.

Example:

I have 3500 members on my real estate investors mailing list at www.magicbullets.com I would like to know if some of the folks here would be interested in sending a brief message telling folks about my site out to their list and in return I would do the same sending out your message to my list.

We've all worked hard to build and protect our lists and the members it represents, by exchanging e mails we can effectively target warm leads at no cost to one another and quite possibly build our own lists with new members that want what each of us has.

I consider it a win/win/win proposition. Feel free to contact me through private message at www.magicbullets.com or reply here.

Thanks for the consideration gang, we/you have absolutely no expense in doing these type JV's and you have the absolute power to change the message or deny sending anything out that you feel would not sit well with your membership.

Thanks for considering building your list. Dan Auito:)
