With all of the recent press, it is hard to keep in mind that the Southern California market, as a whole, is still vibrant and strong. Marketing is the key to producing results and the web is certainly overlooked by the average agent. The web can be an intimidating arena for new agents to navigate but is key in their success. Most agents will simply purchase a tempalted web sit and wait for something to happen. Nothing ever will. I think of the web as a 50 mile cubed parking structure.....tousands of floors and millions of cars. All of them the same make, model and color. Park your car, go out to dinner and then....How do you find it?
I wont get in to what it takes to market a web site...if you are reading this, you might have a good idea. At the very least, you are going in the right direction. Marketing a web site does not take tons of money yet, does require a commitment of time. A commitment that never ends as the web is constantly changing and you must change with it or be left at the bottom. 3-4 evenings a week during the first 6 months and then 1-2 days a week after that. Dont have the time? Then dont start! Stick to Realtor.com, Homeseekers.com and perfect your listings. Purchase the web site from them, the "Featured" and "Showcase" listing contracts and everything else you can get and then look for other sites that you can add content to...for FREE. There are many good sites out there and if they are FREE, what the heck. Start a blog....create an RSS feed of your listings that are contained in one of the free sites and post that everywhere that will have you.
A little food for thought...I hope others will add their 2 cents.
Have a fantastic and productive day!
Cheers,
