110 Comments on Apparently Google LOVES Video!
Thanks for sparking some thoughts and some actions I need to take.
Dennis and Terri, Glad to help, good luck with the videos! :)
Heck yeah, Google loves it, I have proved it over and over again. There are some other tricks that you can do to make sure it loves it even more .
Dave
Video is the name of the game right now in 2011. But there are also tricks to make your video stand out among others, i.e. SEO tactics for video. They're plastered all over the internet, so just Google "video YouTube SEO".
that's great Blitz! I checked my video Bill, and for the contest and it's only on page 2.... hmmm will have to do some investigation on that! All the best from the Raleigh gang!
Dave, Someone gave us an over the phone lesson today to make them found even better, we'll have to tinker with our existing video and include on any future ones.
Michael, Thanks for the tip. We've had a few pointers sent our way, the AR community is fantastic with the help!
Lee & Pamela, I'd suspect there's probably a ton more competition for Raleigh vs. Warren County for key word competition. You can boost your results a bit with your YouTube video description and title, so we may have accidentally stumbled into the right convergence :)
Aaron, The popularity (or the lack of it) for the search term isn't really the point, nor the fact that it's not the VIDEO page we clipped from Google. We've easily posted dozens of posts with a focus on "selling your Warren County home" and they don't show on page 1. The ONLY significant change is the addition of an original video on the topic to our normal blog posts, and thus the pleasant surprise at seeing the result #2 on page 1. The video tagging and key words we can learn to optimize for better placement on the VIDEO search, but getting our written post up to that position was very satisfactory. That's really the central point for the post. We'll continue to work to get a combination of high ranks for written and Video. Thanks for the comment!
Good for you. I do videos on all my listings & then put them in the blog, which always shows up on page 1 of Google. I use this as a great marketing tool because I can pretty much promise my potential clients first page results.
Well all I can say is "I have a Flip and I'm not afraid to use it" :)
You are right. Google does love video. Video is not "2011" or "the future" I have been placing videos (LEADS) on page 1 for years.
Unfortunately most Real Estate agents do not like video so I'll continue to shoot for other businesses until agents have no choice.
If anyone would like to see how it works send me your web address and what key words you would like to rank for and I'll put up a 30 second video for you no charge.
Wow, talk about instant gratification. That is pretty impressive. I have been thinking of videos. Have a Flip, the original version, but don't know how to use it. Would a professional video be better. Guess I better get on with the times and start doing videos. Thanks for the post!
Jirius, I think we'll be doing that with all new listings, and may go back to some of the older listings and try that approach, especially once spring sets in. Right now showing 5 acres of snow covered ground might not be the thing to do!
Laura, That's the right attitude :)
Steve, Hopefully you get some takers! This post has gotten quite a few eyeballs on it since yesterday.
Buki, It was a nice surprise to us! Whether your own or a pro, it would seem to be good to get some video out there. Good luck!
Hi Liz and Bill,
Apparently AR loves your blog!
Lots of comments. Congrats on your foray into the world of You Tube
Phil
Phil, No complaints here! AR has been very good to us :)
Tweaked the keywords and descriptions per advice of another AR member, the video now shows #1 under Videos for "Warren County Realtor" and "selling your Warren County home"
I did not enter the contest but I know I have to start using video. Thanks for the motivation.
Bliz - It doesn't surprise me considering that Google owns Youtube. For me, I generally preferring reading; video just seems to take longer, but I'm doing it anyway.
Gene, You're welcome!
Christine, Same here, for most things, I prefer reading, I absorb the info better, but for certain things I'll concede video wins out. I'm thinking a combo is going to the winner, video with a good written lead in on the blog post should be the best of both worlds.
That's music to my ears! I'm implementing a video strategy this month, and I'm glad to see that you had some instant success with it.
Matt, It worked quickly. We've been poor about doing more, my main obstacle is time and getting the video editing to a level I'm comfortable giving to the public. It's a fall/winter project, and then we'll be able to go full gear.
