How to apply for Your Fulton County Property Tax Homeowners Exemption in Atlanta, GA?
First, what is this exemption? It’s a decrease in the property tax you owe on your Fulton County residence, as long as it is your primary residence, you are not claiming an exemption elsewhere AND your vehicles are registered to this address. Check out the Fulton County Tax Assessors website for specific details, as they offer multiple exemptions, although most only qualify for the main $30,000 value reduction option!
If you have bought a home in the last year, prior to December 31st, 2010 OR have not applied for a homestead exemption in the past, you have until April 1st, 2011 to apply for this years exemption.
Homestead applications are accepted year round, however to be eligible for the current year; you must have owned and occupied the property as of January 1st.
