Turf in a tank from the Colorado Rapids StaduimYes, that's my turf!

My assistant accepted a gift for me this week.  It's the coolest, most unusual gift I've ever received from a client.

It's a soccer field, a rather small soccer field in a terrarium.  It's real turf growing turf.  Actually rather fast growing turf.

Hummm, now Janet asked my gift giver, where she could find a lawn  mower small enough to mow the turf.  He suggested instead of a lawn mower I get a sheep.

A very small sheep.

Does anyone here on Active Rain have a lead on where you can buy a very small sheep?  New Zealand perhaps?

Enough kidding, I'm really touched and pleased he thought enough of me to construct me a soccer field. When we first started working together he was from Naperville.  Oh my distant competitor school district, Naperville the town that can do no wrong.  It took him and the family a few ENeighborhood demographics to accept the fact that Denver Metro might be ok...

My client was relocated to Denver to build the new Professional Colorado Rapids Stadium (which has a name but I can't remember what it is).  Our joke each time we went to look at houses was about how he was building the stadium (with a little help).

Now I have a piece of the Rapids Stadium, complete with soccer balls and goal.  I must remember to take in the goal, the turf is turning brown underneath...I have much to learn about grounds maintenance!

Tomorrow we get to take a tour of the Colorado Rapids Stadium.  I will take photos of the Real Stadium so we can compare and see if it looks like my stadium.  I don't care if it does or not.  I like MY Stadium.  my turf

Now I have My OWN TURF!

Hey, our Relo Director's best friend is the grounds keeper for the Detroit Tigers.  I think she has a fancier title than grounds keeper.  Its a pretty important job when your team is going to be in the World Series.

If you want to mail your turf out here, I can ask Heather to watch it for you.  ;-)

Pretty cool gift KK.  Love it when I get a surprise from a client!

Yes, I was flabber gasted!  I love getting gifts from clients, it's the ultimate!

MY guy told me when the turf dies, he'll bring me astro turf from the mother field....

I can hardly wait until tomorrow for our tour!

What a unique gift.  I love getting gifts from clients too, but my clients are less creative.  They  just give me a $$$ bonus. Next time I'm going to ask "Can't you build me a stadium instead?" LOL

11/16/2006 10:44 PM by Carol Williams Wenatchee Real Estate (Willinger Real Estate)

Carol $$$ as a bonus is creative...one size fits all!  Of course having a soccer stadium in your office is pretty high up there on the creative cool list!  ;)

Very cool gift! When the stadium is built you'll have to take some inside pics to go around the glass to add another dimension to your stadium (and maybe even some tiny fiber optic lighting for night games).

How cool Kristal, I can think of a few jokes re small sheep but I'll skip that for now. One of my clients recently sent me a gorgeous box of dark truffles from ZChocolat.com and I was blown away by the gesture.

Your subsequent comment answered my question. How great that instead of having to mow you'll have astroturf. Just be sure to keep a photo of when it was real grass.

John ~ I like your idea, my stadium needs FANS!  The lights are a good suggestion too.  Really small lights....

Marti ~ dark truffles sounds very nice too!

Sharon ~ my goal is to keep the grass alive.  Guess I'll be cutting it with shears...really small ones.

It looks like you have a lot of balls too.

11/17/2006 09:30 AM by Teresa Boardman (Keller Williams)

What a creative idea.  An old barber razer with wide teeth may do the job cutting.  Some sheep sheers would do the job as well.

Kristal you have some splain'in ta do!

Teresa just sent me this VERY incriminating evidence....

Good God, the whole world knows I am looking for this thing!

What do you have to say for yourself.... and where is it now?

Teresa ~ LOL yes I do have a lot of balls too!  Glad you noticed!

Keith ~ sheep shears?  How 'bout some cheap sheep shears...say that three times, with crackers in your mouth!

Craig ~ What on earth are you talking about?  Did you lose your nose?  I can send you a soccer ball to replace it....I have plenty of balls!  :)

Craig...Teresa who?  Boardman? What a trouble maker!  May your long johns get wet and freeze up there in MinneSoda!

OH SURE... play the IGNORANT card...

It has only been the talk of the rain... being blogged about Here and Here and  MOST of all Here!

Krystal... are you spending too much time up in that mile high tower? Are you that disconected with reality?

Me

KK... I'm not gonna name names.

TB THANKS!

Craig -- I told you it was heading WEST!

Kristal -- too cool and so thoughtful.

Balls, grass, goal, lights, fans and even sheep are all just fine—but, it seems to me you need players, a team (with their own shears maybe), and a network TV contract. Soon you’ll be going to the city for a subsidy for a new stadium!!!

11/17/2006 07:08 PM by Eddy Martinez (Nationwide Funding Group)

Ok Craig, I guess you didn't hear, I've been home sick with a very bad cold, cough and runny nose.  I'm sorry to hear about your nose. Hopefully you will find it soon.

Colleen ~ Yes, it's actually very neat!

Jay ~ I just came back from spending an afternoon a the Mother Turf...a soon to be blog...

Eddy ~ Yes, I felt astro turf today in fact...a blog later...

That is so cute !!  I am going to make one for my little soccer player...I love the tiny soccer balls !!

As for a tiny sheep...Buy a regular size sheep and mate it with a mouse and see what happens...or just get a Ginny Pig.  I think they like grass.

Hi Jay ~ you old codger you...what about my photo?  You can visit the Mother Turf Blog here.

Lauren ~ good idea.  The mating thing might work or perhaps cloining may be the way to go.

Hey Kristal, hire a professional (tiny) landscaper to maintain the soccer turf ROFLOL

Angela ~ Good suggestion!  Do you know where I can find one?

It’s not nice to play with an ancient brain! I know it was there, I’m not losing my marbles (even the red ones), the red nose was there—it was there, I tell you—there—there…

MM ~ pay attention to Jay's answer...:)

KK & MM: It just appeared as I was writing the comment—thought I had lost my mind! With nothing around it to give perspective, its hard to determine its actual size. Jay.
