Having recently accepted a board position with the Lake Country Freedom Festival and having our first ever board meeting I'm excited to tell you that not only am I giving my time to this wonderful event that raises money for a very worthy cause, but I'm also putting my money where my mouth is.
This time 5 years ago I was sitting pretty with money in the bank and getting ready to build a new office and to find a buyer I just had to show up and unlock the door and in a few minutes one would walk through the door... happened every weekend. The past few years, not so much.
I certainly have cut back and changed my life-style. At the board meeting yesterday one of the members who works for Camp Kudzu (the wonderful place the money raised goes) mentioned that children with Type I Diabetes needing financial assistance to attend the summer camp to learn to to deal with the disease had gone up from the previousyear where it was in the 20 something % to over 44% needing help. How sad... the economic downturn hurting some children who really need this wonderful camp experience. So I'm giving what I can and encourage you to do the same. Don't you want to help a child who is living with diabetes live a better life?
And while I am not in a finacial postition to give as much as I would like... I am going to be giving what I can. And it will be more than last year's sponsorship. And I'd like to point you to the place where you have the opportunity to give what you can too.
The "EVENT" is a celebration of Independence Day held on Crooked Creek Marina grounds on the 4th of July. Since 2008 the area's largest fireworks show by Pyrotechico have been drawing large crowds. Now the event is a charitable fund raiser. It's also a fantastic family event. There will be fun for the kids, food vendors, craft vendors.
Here's what you need to know:
- Exhibitor boths and Food Vendor opprtunities are still available
- sponsorships are available on many different financial levels begining as low as $100
- Donantions of gift certificates and items to be given as prizes are needed
- VIP sponsored parking available for both parking lot and boat dock
- LOTS of volunteers are needed for the event

I'm giving, my money and my time and I'm asking you to give too. Give in whatever way you can, be it a gift, your time, your money. It will help a child living with diabetes live a better life.
