Day 31 of the 31 day challenge of January 2011.... I MADE IT.
I wasn't sure I'd even make it past the first week. Was I going to be able to find something to write about EVERY day for thirty one days? I haven't even written twenty five blogs in the two plus years I have been in Active Rain.
But I was up for the challenge. I am a competitor and I needed the little kick in the pants to motivate me to blog MORE.
The challenge forced me to think and be creative. I found myself carrying my camera around more looking for opportunities to write a blog. I wrote posts about local merchants and posted them hyper-local. I wrote some general posts about real estate. I even put together a series of video tutorials for newbies.
During this contest there were two other contests. One was: Are you addicted to Active Rain? I wrote a post for that contest. Then there was the Active Rain challenge: Never answer the same question twice which required five posts. I entered into that as well.
Some multitasking/posting there. I was forcing myself to blog and it was a good thing. I realized the purpose of blogging was not so much to get points but to put myself out in cyber space and get noticed. The more I blog, the more I get noticed.
What I have gained from these challenges:
- my Active Rain points increased by over 8,000 points
- I found myself on Google more
- I connected more with Active Rain members
- I received more comments on my blogs
- I have more subscribers now
- I have more subscriptions now
- I learned a lot of FREE advice here in Active Rain
- I am more comfortable writing a blog
I found myself reading more blogs from different members and seeing a lot of success stories here in Active Rain.
Now I get what this blogging is all about. ACTION = RESULTS
