You are Firing Me WHY?

By
Real Estate Agent with Southern Homes of the Carolinas 254679

So this week I had something strange happen to me.  I have a great listing and we received a fantastic offer on the property.  It was accepted contingent on the sellers buyers buyer  closing on their house.  Always a risk, but it was one the sellers were willing to take.  The day before we were to close Catastrophic failure occurred.  The sellers buyer went on a shopping spree and killed their ability to close on the buyers home therefore killing the buyers ability to close on my sellers home.

Buyers dropped the price of their home $20,000 immediatly to get another buyer and cancelled their contingency.  We hit the road and got people in and got news that another offer was on the way.  After all of this my sellers said they were happy with me, with all the traffic they had, with the response when the contingency fell at how quickly we were able to get another agent with an interested buyer within days of the other offer falling through.  But they felt like it was bad luck to use me again so they are firing me for finding a second buyer and going to do it themselves.  They told me they will just contact the agent directly and let him handle both his buyer and them.

Seriously,  I have done my job...not my fault that your buyers buyer did something stupid and crashed they loan, even the agent and the loan officer were blindsided by this.  Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

Anyhow, at the end of the day I have done my job and looks like the sellers will benefit from me doing my job by themselves.

Sometimes I just don't understand people.

This is everyones nightmare you do your job and go out of your way to make it all happen someone else does something and it falls apart boom your fault.  Even after working to make it all get put together again it is still your fault.  We hear of this time and time again and I guess I just don't understand it.

I know, I really put my heart and sole into this, as I do everyone but I hurt so bad for them that the contingency fell through all to be slapped in the face so to speak by them. I guess never under estimate what people will do.

Sarah, This sounds suspicious, have you spoken with the agent that they're hiring? Do you think the agent solicited them to leave you? So sorry this happened to you. It's hard to get one buyer in this market, let alone two. They were lucky to have you, and foolish to leave. jay

I hate to say I never even thought about another agent .... interesting.  I am not sure who is taking the listing.  Will have to wait and see. Either way...I am going to pick myself up, pat myself on the back for doing my job and move on.  I can't understand the insanity sometimes.

You know what, Sarah? This should be illegal. Didn't you produce this buyer? Don't you have 1 week where they still owe you your commission? That is plain rude! Like you, I just don't get it. No manners!

Srah: Hopefully before you cancelled the listing you sent them over a protection letter with the buyer's name on it. Sounds like you and your broker were the procurring cause of the sale.

Update apparently the realtor that they have hired has very few sales in his resume.  Interesting.  Must have promised the moon and stars.  I just found out that they buyer that I have brought will be handled only through that realtor and he will give me a small referral fee because I was involved.  Thats ok, he must need that sale more than me so he can break 10 this year.

Wow, wow, wow, and Realtors' have a bad reputation............really Mr. Seller how dishonest are you and how greedy. I agree with Matt that you were the procuring cause of sale and you deserve to be compensated.  I am so sorry that you have been treated this way after doing a fabulous job!

Final Straw!  Did I mention that the new agent called me and asked if he could come by and pick up the key on the home so his clients would not have to be inconvenienced!!!!!!  BTW...the agent bringing the offer called me and is finally  bringing an offer in the morning on the house, I had it listed until midnight but not the next morning.  The other agent said, well I signed the listing agreement weeks ago, sorry I guess it is just bad timing. It happens to us all.
