Plans by SeaWorld San Diego to add a manta-themed roller coaster ride and exhibit have received the blessing of the California coastal Commission Staff.
The manta themed roller coaster ride will include a 9,900 square foot loading and unload station, an aquarium viewing tank and ray pool.
Also proposed is a two level building that would house a marine conservation exhibit located adjacent to the ray pool, where the public would be able to interact with live rays.
SeaWorld park in Orlando already has a manta ride that may well be the model for what is planned in San Diego. It is described as a coaster that allows riders to "spin, glide, skim and fly like a giant ray"
Already planned for this year is a revamped Shamu show and a sea turtle attraction that will feature gaming wall, interactive map and a ride called Riptide Rescue .
