This gazebo overlooks the parade grounds known as "Worden Field" at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis MD.  Between the trees, you can see the Severn River on a beautiful summer day.  Just look at that beautiful blue water and sky!

The next scheduled Brigade of Midshipmen Dress Parade at Worden Field will be at 4 p.m., April 13, 2011, followed by another on April 20 at the same time.  The following photo shows a parade in progress, with this gazebo on the far end of the field.  (Credit:  U.S. Naval Academy, with permission.)  Beyond that is the historic building which houses the Naval Academy Club on the first floor and the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites guest accommodations on the second and third floors.  The the dome of the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel stands tall in the heart of this beautiful campus.

Margaret, You're bringing back some memories!  So many hours standing out on that field during parades! :)  Bill

I haven't been to a parade at the Naval Academy for a long time.  Sounds like I need to head over to Annapolis and spend a day exploring during one of the parade days.

Margaret, I've been clsoe but never made it to the Naval Academy. I've been to West Point, along the Hudson, so rich in tradition. Thanks for sharing

Patrick - You're welcome.  I remember from our military move days that we couldn't get our hands on enough photos for our destination.

Liz & Bill - I'll bet.  I thought about you as I wrote this post.  LOL.  Do you have any good photos of the Academy you'd like to share with an Annapolis area blogger?

Cindy - I haven't been to one in years, but the two April dates are on my calendar.  Wanta make a date for lunch, girl talk and a parade?

Ed - The next time you're in the area, best between April-October, you should make it a point to visit.  They have tours for the public or you could just admire.  Maybe I should follow-up on that suggestion just made to Cindy and schedule something.

Hi Margaret,  Both photos are awesome.  The photo of the parade in progress is extra-awesome.

Joyce - 'Gotta love a good action shot, don't you.

Thom - Glad you like the photos, but...  Please tell me you're not going to be one of those people who puts a giant image in every comment are you?

Margaret, All my photos are predigital and I've never scanned them.  I do need to convert them some day and would be happy to share.

Martha, it is!  I shouldn't have any trouble finding some taken over the past few years, and I have occasion to go there several times a month.  We should go to the Academy Club some day for lunch.

Liz and Bill - Careful... you're dating yourselves...
