Scam # 5

It gives me a great deal of pleasure to write you this mail and even when it might come to you as a surprise. I hope you find it of interest.

My name is Paul Kunert. I am client services manager with a Bank here in Europe. I would like to use this means to ask your assistance in moving some funds over to your country.

I have in the course of my duties come in contact with some funds that have been inactive for some years now and careful investigation proved the original depositor of the funds died five years ago.

All attempts to reach the supposed beneficiary of the deposit were fruitless and before it is forfeited to the state, I will like to move it outside now and this is were I need your assistance.

I look forward to hearing from you and my gratitude for your patience

Respectfully yours

Thanks.

I had one of these from Malaysia. Someone had a similar name as mine and they wanted to give me the money. Sure they did!

I get one of these every now and then. There are a lot more than 5 of them out there. Do you think people really fall for these scams anymore?  I sure hope not.

Adam ... We used to be able to forward these to the US Comptroller of the Currency ... that address has long since gone inactive ... I would image not from lack of use.  When you report these to the FBI and or Secret Service or other Department of the Treasury folks ... their general response ... "there are so many of these, we can't follow up on them unless someone has actually been 'injured.'" ... When asked, they admit that someone is injured far more often than we might want to believe ... literally hundreds per day ... that they know about!
