You Have More Worth Than You May Know

Occassionally I will write a blog that is inspirational in nature rather than about the real estate business.  I know people like to get to know their real estate agents in a personal way, to know what is important to the person that is helping them with their important decisions in buying and selling properties.   So I want to share with you some observations I made today.

I had the privelege of singing with my brother at a church service in a nursing home.  There were only 18 people there.  A very small group with great enthusiasm.  Most of the attendees were dressed in very casual clothes, some even wore their pajamas.  One tall, thin lady actually had on a nice dress, stockings and dress shoes.  I watched this lady yesterday and today as she helped others that could not walk as well as she.  I watched her put out the big white cotton bibs for dinner on each table.  She knows where each resident eats.  She makes them welcome as they enter the dining room just like she helped seat them in a circle today for church.

She is quite a helper, this lady.  I don't remember her name but I will never forget her beautiful face.  She has the love of God in her heart and never stopped helping or thanking others the whole time I was there.  She has a servants' heart.  How blessed we are when we are priveleged to meet such people.

She is in a place where she should be attended to but instead of thinking of herself, she spends her time thinking of others.  She seems so happy and full of joy.  I am sure the other residents love her and appreciate her.  The nurses and aides do as well.

What do you have to give back?  Maybe you think it is not much.  To someone, it could mean everything.  This lady gives all she can and it is indeed A LOT.

JOY       PEACE         LOVE         CARING       SHARING      HOPE       FAITH        Are these just words?  Or are these life itself?        Go visit a nursing home and find out how much you are worth.

Ricki, First, Bless you for paying attention to those that are so easily forgotten.  I have so much respect for you for spending your time making them feel special.

This woman sounds like such a giver with a loving heart.  I bet the other residents really do appreciate her!

A very heartwarming post. I have to tell you that there are a few great servants around these homes. They only think of others and are amazing with how much love they have.

Hi Tommy,  That is so true,  Little things can mean a lot. :)

Hi Elizabeth,  This lady is a real role model for all of us. :)

Hey Trey,  Yes, I'm sure God puts people in every home just like He places angels in every corner of the world.  Have an incredible week, Trey and sell lots of real estate! :)

Your time is worth something....especially when you give it freely to others that need it.  We don't expect anything in return, but we offer our service selflessly.  I do not have any grandparents in a nursing home, but I recently had a client that sold their home that was living in an assisted living setting.  The older people were all so excited to see me.  I bet many of them thought I was a family member for as often as I was there!  Thank you for the post today.

Hi Karen,   They really like visitors.  Too many people never have visitors, so it is good to get to visit with as many as you can when you are there.  Thanks for your comments :)

Karen, I know exactly what you mean. My oldest is a nurse at a nursing home, we often attend special events there. On Halloween we brought the grandkids, I actually had tears in my eyes. Some of the residents are long forgotten by family and friends, but the staff adopts them. It is clearly a wonderful thing you and your brother did.

Hi Andrea,  Thanks for your comments.  We enjoy doing that every chance we get.  It is a lot of fun and they do appreciate us more than anyone else probably LOL.  Glad your son/daughter is giving of himself this way.  You are a blessed Mom.   Ricki :)

Hi Fernando,   We all seek that and it is easy to find when we help others.

Hi Gary,  Everyone has something to give and only we can give away our gift.  That is why each of us is so very important. It takes us all.  Have a great weekend, dear friend, and be safe in the ice and snow.
