Now that is interesting to know. Shows I know little about the simplest of things, light bulbs.
I know it is good for the environment but probably will frustrate many.
I had no idea! CFL bulbs are great... until you are trying to sell your home. They take a while to get to full brightness and as a potential buyer wanders from room to room, they may not stay long enough to get the full effect and feel like the room is dark.
Jim - They will be removing incadescent bulbs from the Canadian market in the near future as well.
Jim, I missed the news release, too. Thanks for passing along the information.
Hi Jim - We get such a great deal on CFL lightbulbs of all wattages, sizes and shapes that I always leave a dozen or so for my buyers in their new home in addition to any other actual closing gift. They are always very much appreciated and cost me very little. I buy them at the Sacramento Association of Realtors store. They are provided to SAR by our local electricity provider (SMUD), and proceeds from their sale go to the SAR Scholarship Fund, so it is a win-win all around.
Good Morning Jim....I remember when I heard that on the nightly news....I couldn't believe they were going away totally. Have a great day!---Rob
I am a LIGHT BULB HOARDER * we have lost a Sylvania light bulb plant in VA to this sillyness so I have a shelf in my basement where I have light bulbs. When I replace them in my rental properties, I use the 'new' ones; however, the light is NOT the same and I prefer the OLD ones!
Whoa, thanks for the heads up Jim, we did not see the press release either!
Jim... That is crazy. Must have been on page 10 of the newspaper (oh, I don't read one anymore). Guess it wasn't at the top of Yahoo's news page. Thats just weird (outlawed).
Jim, I did not hear this either...no more bright lights!
Good morning, Jim. I did not know that! But I’ve replaced all my incandescent bulbs with CFLs… and a few with LEDs. (The LEDs are REALLY expensive… like $30-$50 each! But they put out a lot of light, are low wattage, and last for years… even decades.)
Well that is news to me too. I usually buy those type of bulbs. Oh well...
My mom had a GE light bulb on her porch (one of those yellowish orange ones) for over 40 years, then it finally blew out. I know that has to be some kind of record!
I love the new CFLs. I started using them in 2006 when they were first around, and we saved about $27 a month on the electric bill the first month!
Wow Jim
I had not heard of this at all-thanks for the info..I will reblog this
Hi Jim,
I will have to go stockup on incandescent bulbs. Thanks for the heads up.
Lisa
