I bought a house in Temecula CA, what do I need for taxes?

Now that tax time is creeping up on us, here is a little something you may want to keep in mind.

When you closed your purchase, you among other things, received and signed a HUD1 final settlement statement.
Did you keep a copy handy?

I can understand, there are a few things we don't always like to do, one of those is big piles of paperwork... So we file it.
Well, when you meet with your CPA or anyone else who is doing your taxes, make sure to mention that you purchased a home. Then wait for them to ask you for the HUD1, as this is the paper that shows them what you paid in taxes - which incidentally are deductable... So come prepared, and whip that bad boy out.

Now, if you bought your home from me, I have a digital copy on hand, and we have other version too, that means, it is easy for me to print it, and to send it to you is easy too... Just in case you forgot what box it got filed in.

Do remember, when you buy a house in Temecula CA, the tax deductions are part of the benefits you get from owning a home. Don't forget to take advantage of it.

And yes, if you bought a house with us this past year, and now missing one piece of paper - call me and I will get it to you.

Yes, I have been checking my excel spreadsheets and getting ready to meet with my tax accountants. Since I didn't buy a house last year, no HUD1 sheet.

Ah, the fun of tax season!  Great reminder for folks who may not have the HUD1 with their other tax info.
