It's All About Teamwork! Whose Team?

It's all about teamwork or is it? Guess it depends on which team you are on.

In the beginning the feeders were meant for the the Birds. And slowly the squirrels took over. We tried many different squirrel proof (ha..no such thing) feeders..even coated the wires with Vaseline. Those adorable critters can get around anything. Greed.....When Enough is NOT Enough

I have to admire their tenacity and their teamwork. They take turns on the feeder, do some acrobatics, eat for a while, knock down a lot of seeds, hop off and eat what's on the ground. Quite efficient for the squirrels. They have figured out the art of teamwork!

They take turns. One on the feeder, two enjoying the fruits of the worker above. The big black birds are sharing in this ground feast.

That feeder has now been emptied by the furry mammals....not be refilled for awhile. It is time for the pretty colorful birds to enjoy their own special feeder (with the tiny mesh holes) without interference 'teamwork' .

A few days ago all 3 feeders were full.

It's all about teamwork...but you better know whose team you are on!

Margaret, Great post.

We grow some big healthy squirrels here in northwest Arkansas. Whatever the birds like is apparently very good for squirrels too.

Maybe we should change the expression, 'dogged determination' to squirreled determination.

Margaret, I love your photos.  We don't have much of a squirrel  problem.  Oh, I think they're out there all right, but "the big white dog"  seems to keep them in check.  If we're choosing sides, I wanna be on your team.

Charles, I think I like your squirreled determination. They are tenacious and very energetic creatures.

Mary, We have a black cat outside. Hmm do I also need to get a big white dog?

I'll choose you any day!

Margaret, we have the same problem with the squirrels as well, we have plastic discs above and below the feeders which seem to work 90% of the time, the other trick is to have the feeder far enough away from the branches so they cannot jump on them.  ~ it is amazing how many birds we get this time of the year.

I used to love watching the squirrels at our lake home in Minnesota - they were such rascally little devils and so fun to watch. Hey thanks for bringing back a fun memory today!

Yes more snow on the way......yikes! But it'll make for some more fun pictures!

David, The plastic discs, even coated with Vaseline, seemed to make it easier for the furry critters. They slide right down the hangers and onto the feeders.

Margaret, We have become so much more aware because of the blogging.

Anna, More snow and more fun.. Now all the little birdies are on the ground finishing up the leftovers.

I absolutely love the squirrels -- my Dad used to really fuss and complain about "those darn squirrels", but he always made sure they had plenty of corn.  It is critical to know whose team you're on . . .

Margaret - I love watching my birds and squirrels.  We even put vasaline on a pole to laugh at the fuzzy tricksters.  I love your analogy about "teamwork".

Tish, We do the same but get pleasure watching the tricks  ans struts.

The Vaseline does NOT work. Trust me on that one.
