Replacing the toilet paper….over or under?

While not nearly as “notable” as the Great Debate between Harlow Shapley and Heber Curtis in 1920, I’m certain that the discussion of “over vs. under” has been around for centuries.

I’m definitely an “over the top” kind of gal, and I insist that all new rolls of paper be correctly installed in my home.  I’m certain marriages have ended over less important issues than this.  This is a topic I do not take lightly!

Hotel companies have got it right.  They’ve trained their housekeeping staff to properly display a nice little triangular fold to indicate to guests that the bathroom facility has been attended to.  How is the public to know that the bathroom was properly attended to, if a roll is installed backwards?

Toilet paper companies, I’m sure spend countless hours on the design process of said rolls.  Be it, hearts, duckies or flowers, I’m confident that their design engineers have carefully planned their design as to be best represented with the roll cascading over the top.  Wouldn’t the designers be disappointed, insulted even, to find out that a roll with a carefully planned heart design was carelessly installed, causing the hearts to be upside down, or worse, that little duckies are swimming backwards?

I say, for the sake and respect of these engineers, let’s make sure those rolls are over the top!

Rest assured...I HAVE been known to "correct" an improperly installed roll when visiting family and friends!  lol

Enjoy the day!

I loved this!!  I too am an Obsessive, Compulsive Toilet Paper Roll Turner.  No one is safe.  And by the way, it's over the top for my house too.  Thanks for the laugh

Over, over, over! I too "fix" them when I see them. My husband....well, he can't even make it onto the holder, so he doesn't care, lol!

Mike...All for the greater good, man!

Shannon, glad I'm in company of another "over the top" girl!

Funny....I have a co-worker or two, that are "under" putter-oners.  I keep correcting it.  lol

Thanks everyone for reading and commenting.

Best~

I saw this argument AGES ago on Oprah and one gal in the audience nailed it with one thought.  If you use printed TP, you can't see the print if you do it under.

I'm chuckling, Chris, thinking thinking this was a topic Oprah was covering.

Can you imagine conflicting household members discussing this on Jerry Springer?  LOL!

Bill...a "J and PB" just doesn't have the same ring as a "PB and J" now, does it?
