Background
The Board of Supervisors approved a 71-unit residential development project at Naples in December 2008. Components of the project that lie in the coastal zone still must be reviewed by the California Coastal Commission. EDC, Surfrider and the Naples Coalition filed a lawsuit protesting the inland project approvals - that trial is expected to proceed in July. All of these factors, coupled with inconsistent market pressures, have forestalled the development from moving forward. On February 1, the Board of Supervisors will receive a briefing on the project status. While it is unlikely that the Board will take any action at the hearing, it is important for the County to understand the public's commitment to preserving Naples. Please attend the hearing on Tuesday to support the protection of our unique and treasured coastline.
