With all the SNOW that is heading to the Midwest This Week and all the SNOW the east coast has had this year we have been treated with many great snow scenes. A lot of times people who are in the real estate market want to go out and look at homes.

Strange enough I have taken buyers out to look at homes in snow storms, ice storms and some very frighting weather. Was I crazy? Probably, but one thing is for sure people who were selling there homes let us in to look at them, they did not turn down the request to view for an appointment.

Which brings me to my point, for those who have their home on the market and are expecting a large amount of snow, if you don't want to keep the drive and sidewalks clean while it is coming down, call your agent and tell them that you do not want to have any showings until the snow, ice storm is over. No need to have any slip and fall insurance claims on your home owners insurance!

Buyers will still be interested in your home, if you would like to keep your home available in your showing solutions you can always negotiate another time for them to come and see your home, after the storm!

Brett:

Motivated buyers look at home when its snowing and motivated sellers let them look at their homes.  You deserve a lot of respect for doing your job in the dead of winter.  Thank heaven I don't have to deal with snow.  Actually, here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we love it when it snows.  It doesn't happen too often though.  We have to drive 4 hours to the Sierra Nevada to get to real snow.

Hey Brett:  In Northern Michigan if I decided not to show a home due to snow...I'd be out of business.  I actually carry a HomeDepot collapsible shovel in my vehicle.  So many of the homes I show are seasonal and the sellers simply won't maintain the drives.  A shovel isn't your typical real estate tool but in my neck of the woods, it's an essential.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not shoveling the complete drive, but I will make a functional walkway and clear the porch/deck areas.  :)  DJ  PS, I don't hire out. Just in case you were thinking about giving me a call the next time you get hit with snow. :)
