Some of the great reasons you'll love living in Dripping Springs, Texas

February is a busy month in our sleepy little town of Dripping Springs.  It all gets started with the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce's "Suits and Boots" community award dinner.  Held this year at the Salt Lick Pavilion it's going to attract everyone who's anyone and a few like me who just like great BBQ.  Be sure to wear your best boots and suits to what promises to be a great event and a fun night.  That is coming up February 5th.

A few weeks later on February 20th is the Dripping Springs United Methodist Men's WILD GAME DINNER.  Serving over 700 people and last year raising over $65,000 for local Charities this dinner and auction is where hunters and fine food connoisseurs congregate for a night of fun, live music, silent and live auctions and of course the food.  This year's menu features items like Elk Lasagna, pheasant and sausage gumbo, free range turkey, rabbit dumplings and more.  Of course you will have all the sides you want and a dessert table that will leave you in a sugar coma.  The raffle item this year is a 2011 4x4 Kawasaki Mule.  Your chances of winning are high as only a limited number of tickets are sold.  I already got mine.  Don't miss out on your chance to win a great machine dressed in Real Tree camo.

Later in Month Dripping Springs goes Monte Carlo with the Education Foundation's Casino Night at Creekside Pavilion.  Tickets are $75 and include Dinner, Drinks, $20K in chips, a silent auction and live music provided by the Dripping Springs All Stars.  This is one of the most fun events of the year and the proceeds go to provide scholarships and teacher grants to the Dripping Springs ISD.  The theme this year is Diamonds and Denim.  Getting to wear jeans to a formal event is reason alone to go but the fun and food make it an event not to miss.

To an outsider living in Dripping Springs may seem slow and quiet but when the evening comes the locals turn out on the town for some fun.  We don't take ourselves too seriously except when it comes to getting to know our neighbors and showing up for a good cause.  Almost everyone here is a transplant and came here for the great schools, beautiful country and wide open spaces.  If you want a taste of Dripping Springs come to one of these fun events.  You won't be disappointed.  Look for me.  I'll be there.  I wouldn't miss it.
