We're (very) aware that ActiveRain has been unreliable over the past few weeks. It's incredibly frustrating when viewing a blog post, leaving a comment, catching up on your Social Blog, or perusing your favorite groups takes minutes, not seconds. It's also frustrating for us — like you, we spend countless hours on ActiveRain, and every instance of downtime means that we've failed to provide a reliable platform for you and your business. We're sorry.

I'm posting this message from my personal blog because my responsibilities at ActiveRain include managing infrastructure and product development. Ultimately, the distribution of our technology resources (programmers, designers, administrators, etc.) falls to me, and it's clear that my efforts have not been focused properly.

Starting today, we're freezing development of new features and products while we work to systematically improve performance and reliability. Your passion and support for the network (even in our darkest hours) has been inspirational, and we're working to reply in turn by fixing our leaky pipes to provide for the very best experience in the "Rain".

I just started getting the delays.  I thought it was me.  Glad to see it's not, but hope to get it fixed soon.

Please don't tell Bob Stewart I said this, but I suddenly have a mental image of all the little ActiveRain hamsters trying to run in molasses.  :)

Jorgen - I appreciated this post, and I'm cheering for you to fix any issues that have been causing the slowdowns and errors that we've been experiencing.  :)

I agree with Chris Olsen.  I, too, was a software developer for many years, and started out at Bell Laboratories.  There must be some scrutiny done do determine what needs to be fixed with the ActiveRain infrastructure.  Response time and reliability are paramount.  All the bells and whistles in the world will not matter, unless we, the users, can get on AR easily and reliably.  Likewise, my real estate blogs on google, which are almost always on page 1, thanks to AR, will be useless if the readers can't get the article to load!  Please assign your brightest and best to this problem and let's see AR roll again!!!!

Jorgen - Thank you for working on this.  It is frustrating, and I appreciate the fact that it's being addressed.

Jorgen:  Just wondering what is going on ?  I just went to my Points Summary and also My Comments... and they are now both showing up BACKWARDS.  I tried the same links on others profiles, and they are ALSO BACKWARDS.

I just don't understand.

These were both working just fine before I went to bed... and now they are BACKWARDS.  I click on My Comments... and what pops up ?  The beginning of my My Comments list... which began in August of 2007.

Jorgen,

I am still amazed at what technology allows us to do on computers and the internet.  Certainly there will be trying moments and this is but one.  Some of the comments above are supportive and some sound like little children whining.  I've been an AR member for over two years and this is the first time I have had any major inconvenience in using the site, a pretty good run of up time if you ask me.  You'll get things fixed and life will go on.

I Think I see part of the problem:

Just now I'm getting a strange error message while trying to edit a new blog post.  It says:

this reblog has been tampered with, please cancel the edit (or something like that!)  YIKES. HELP.

Thanks, Jorgen!  It will be great to have a stable and reliable system once more.

You realize you're dealing with serious AR addicts here, don't you?

The update is much appreciated.  Hopefully the features that have been disabled - such as re-blogging - will be restored soon.

Wow - I am so happy.  Last night you took the servers down and fixed whatever the problem was.  Today AR is fabulous!  My website works well, (www.ellensellsrealestate.com) and signing on to AR is a dream.  Whatever the problem was seems to have been identified and addressed.  I am SO HAPPY and I am sure all the other realtors who depend so much on AR are happy, too.  Thanks Jorgen and thanks to your team of computer professionals.  What was the problem?

Couldn't get on this weekend...need to fix this quick as the payors will not tolerate this. I'm an oldie, but I'm hearing from the newbies, this is not good.

As 'hind sight' is always better than 'forsight' I am just looking back to look forward.
