Woman wearing red

Be sure to wear RED tomorrow, February 4, for NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY - an annual reminder from the American Heart Association that another woman dies every minute from stroke or heart disease.  Could the next one be you, your spouse, your mother, your sister, your daughter, your best friend, your favorite mentor?

Dig out that once-a-year RED Valentine tie, Guys, because this reminder isn’t just for women.  YOU can make a difference, too, by joining the important women in your life who will be wearing RED on Friday to create awareness of this national problem.

National Wear Red Day PinMacy’s is helping to spread the word by offering 20% off February 2-6 to anyone wearing RED.   May I suggest you use some of that savings to purchase the official “red dress” pin for $2, because 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association.  Just imagine how much money could be raised if every person who walks through the door of any Macy's nationwide over these five days would purchase a "red dress" pin.  Other national sponsors are offering special promotions, too, so visit their website for details.  You’ll find them listed at NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY. (Click on the link)

Invite your whole company or bridge club or bowling team to go RED tomorrow: bake some heart-shaped cookies and have your own one-person bake sale to help raise funds for research; and pledge to get healthy, starting today.

Make it your mission to fight heart disease in women!

Thank you for the post.  I was unaware of National Wear Red Day.  I am not sure if I have a red shirt, however, I will look for something tonight. I can certainly state that I do not have any red trousers.

Excellent post. I was not aware of the National Wear Red Day. Keep up the good work in supporting important causes.

Andrea - Since I've been blogging, I've done a better job of remembering this.  In the past, when I posted on the actual day, there were always some comments "wishing" they'd known before they got dressed for the day, so I made it a point to do it ahead of time this year.

Wallace - Thank you!  One more thing folks can do to support this important cause.

Martha - One look at me and you know I'm a walking symbol of risk for these diseases.  'Gotta get to the gym... (as I sit at Panera Bread eating an Asiago Bagel Breakfast Sandwich).

Wayne - Thank you (but it's tomorrow, unless you want to wear red both days and go shopping at Macy's today).

Holly - Thanks, Holly.  Let's all post a photo of ourselves wearing red tomorrow in the comments here.

Glen - Sounds like a good excuse to go shopping for a red sweater or tie.

Yikes Margaret! I had no idea about this! Certainly will make picking the wardrobe for tomorrow much easier.

And nothing better than for a good cause!

Thanks!

Roy... How 'bout posting a red heart instead of a flower on your comments tomorrow, in honor of National Wear Red Day.

Gabe - Glad to help!  It's such a little thing, but it does serve as a reminder to everyone around you.

Ginny, Mine too... yet the first year I heard of this, that was the one day I didn't wear red.

Margaret,

Great shout out as I didn't know about this day.  Off to search for something red.  We definitely have heart related issues for all in our family.

Love that this gets you a discount to Macy's.

All the best, Michelle

PS - The good news Margaret, is that Red is really your color:-)

Bill - You're welcome.  Thanks for the comment.

Michelle - Being a Terps fan means you gotta have a lot of red in your closet!

Dan - Great!  Way to spread the word!

Sarah - Way too serious of a problem to ignore, yet that's what we do every day... I certainly do.

Red, being my favorite color, I love to wear it but tomorrow it will have a greater significance. Thanks for the post, Margaret.

Thanks for the reminder. Just tied a red ribbon to my workout clothes heading for the gym. If the reblog feature was working, I would reblog. With your permission, I would like to write REBLOG at the top of my post and give you credit. This post is that important.

See you tomorrow!

Billi - Next year I think I'll offer a challenge to change our profile pictures to one wearing red for the month of February.  Whatta you think?

Marilyn - Sorry about the settlement getting canceled, but hey... you can wear red anywhere (preferably to Macy's, so you can enjoy the 20% off.)

Absolutely, Margaret, go for it!  This did get a lot of reblogs yesterday before they disabled the feature.

I got your phone message and promise to call you back today between 12 and 3.
