What is the Magical Mystery of Comment Points??????

Ok is it just me? I am confused. Yesterday I had 16 comments between my blog post and posting on others. When I go to my points summary - it only shows 3 comment points scored. This happens frequently with my account. Is there some kind of magic for the comments to be worthy enough to score points? Here is a copy of my comment activity for the day yesterday as well as my points summary. What the heck?????

Thanks Joan, but obviously there are more than 3 comments from others on my blog as well as comments I posted. It just doesn't add up.

Belinda, I have had the simnilar issue, only to see the points pop up later in that day or even the next day. With 200,000+ members, i guess there are bound to be glitches in the sysytem.

Hi Belinda, I can't keep it straight either, but here is a link I had saved that helps explain the point system:

Also if you get three comments, you get 12 points, so if you see someone who has two comments, if you then comment they get 12 points! Or if they have 5 comments and you then comment, they get another 12 points. See Karen Anne's comment below. I don't know if there are points beyond 6 comments.

I recently found out you get points (don't know how many) for reporting spam.

Not sure if we can do this, but I am going to attempt to cut and paste a comment from Karen Anne Stone (Fort Worth Real Estate) - when I asked a similar question:

Joyce: Here are your answers. The 224 points post would have been a basic 200 points for the blog post... and 12 points for the first three comments, and 12 points for the second three comments.

The 225 points post would have been a basic 225 points for the blog post (with you getting the extra 25 points for putting the post in an "Active Rain Channel." But also not getting up to 3 comments on it... which would have given you 12 more points. Remember... one or two comments on a post gets you zero extra comment points. When you hit three comments, you get 12 points extra.

The 237 points post would have been a basic 225 points and using the Channel feature... plus getting at least 3 comments for another 12 points... but less than six comments... which would have given you another 12 points.

These Active Rain folks keep ya on yer toes... don't they.

Felt like I was playing cribbage there for a moment, 15-2, 15-4, and an Active Rain point for last card.. er comment. Never really studied the points on comments and just keep blogging. 217,250 when I checked for how many points for comments I had racked up once you got me thinking about it. I think that is a free Southern Carribean cruise I am owed. (Smile)
