I just went through a very frustrating experience trying to mediate a conflict with another Christian. From the begining they were in an angry "attack mode". They quoted a verse in the bible to back up their point and acquised me of being guilty as charged ! I had no problem with the Word of GOD entering our dispute ! As a believer it's always to my benefit to submit to it ! I responded that when there is a conflict between believers we are biblically instructed to submit to Matthew 18:15-17 ! I said I would meet them and THEIR Pastor and agree to mediate. I shared another verse or two about how they shouldn't so quick to judge someone(w/out ALL the facts) and asked wwJd?
The response I received back led to this post. They basically said I could quote all the bible verses I want (and hide behind them) and were unwilling to follow Matthew 18:15-17, using THEIR Pastor, not mine to mediate. They thought I had used the bible verses to rationalize actions. Then it hit me ! I wonder just how many verses in the Bible they agree with? In other words, how many bible verses had they learned and YIELDED their lives to ? Just how many pages does a potential milk fed believer have in their bible?
You see whenever I quote a bible verse, it is concrete proof of my acceptance of it. I'm no longer struggling with not my will (or opinion) LORD, but YOUR'S. Sometimes I quote a version and the receiver says ;Well that's just your opinion ! I politely respond no that's GOD's Word, it has replaced my opinion on the matter(or right to have one). You see even though I still sin, my Bible has every page in it ! I don't believe I have greater knowledge than any verse of GOD's Word ! Have I yield physically to every verse? Of course not, that's what the Santification process is all about ! Well don't give up on me, cause GOD's not finished with me yet ! Remember obediance brings blessing !
