For awhile I lost touch with my associates. It was my own fault. Somehow I had checked the "most recent" button
for blog posts. The new blogs caught my attention. After awhile I discovered I was missing some of my
associates and started clicking on my associate buttons to find that many were still posting great blogs, I had
just missed them by not moving from the "most recent" blog button.
Going through my associates I smiled when I saw:
Rich Jacobson and
Leanne Paynter They
were the first to welcome me to Active Rain and actually read and comment on a post. Since then I have met
many
Active Rain members that I respect and enjoy associating with.
There is a challenge in choosing good people, GREAT
REALTORS, and awesome BLOGGERS to associate with. I think it may be an Active Rain Issue, there are too
many to choose from!
Well, there should be a defining point somewhere. So, I decided
that maybe a fair guideline on the personal level would be to go through my rather large list and re- choose
associations based on reciprocity. That should narrow the field quite a bit. Still, there are some people I can't let
go of even if they have never commented on one of my blogs.
Welcome to The ActiveRain Real Estate Community. (If you need more guidelines about associating)
One thing that Rich taught me by example is to make a comment in the comment bar when adding an
associate. I need to go back and do that with quite a few of my associates. Sometimes we are attracted to a
member without knowing that much about them, or we may be cramped for time. In that case I think it is okay
to do a ...coming soon.
Lately I have been checking out those who respond to my blogs. A comment isn't justifiable grounds, in my
opinion to add someone as an associate; but it merits getting to know a person better by going to their profile,
then clicking on their blogs to see if there is a common ground other than an "on the fly" comment.
I am hoping one of our Active Rain Scholars will stop by. I am perplexed. Sometimes after reading a profile
and some blog samplings I choose to associate, but there is only the subscibe choice. So, I subscribe. Then if I
go back the associate choice is there. Is this on an extra step on purpose? (Now I have a long list of
subscriptions:-)

If you have more questions, I ask you to visit the references above. Most questions can be answered by studying introductory AR Blogs. I also use the search bar a lot.
One last thought. We all have reasons why we think Active Rain is Super. Aside from
I am awed by the WOW service I get as a non due
paying member. On occasion I have scrolled down to the bottom right corner and clicked to ask a question that I
did not want published. Guess What? I was treated--not like a customer, but like a VIP. What a great example
of service in cyber world!
One last point--if you do click to contact Active Rain, I have learned from experience that it helps AR to help you
if you are specific. If you are referring to a blog--be specific so they can see what you see.
Well that definitely was NOT a wall of words...well done!
