Alan May in Chicago has got nothing on Indianapolis; I'd gladly take 20 inches of snow over the 2-3 inches of ice we have in Indy.

During the storm, you are glued to the television and facebook to see what's coming, how bad it is, what people are doing to prepare...you're a bit caught up in it.

Ice Storm 2011 in Indianapolis Then it happens and the news returns to local events (the shootings, robberies, etc) and most of facebook is back to daily events. But for those of us in Indy...we are literally stuck in time.

The picture you see is my driveway; the little 3 x 3 square of shoveling took two of us an hour; it would take days to get the entire drive way done. I use the term shovel lightly; it was really us chipping away with various garden type tools.

So finally hubby decided he will go to get sand; after another 30 minutes of trying to get his truck off the apron of our driveway...he did and you see the results.

You can tell who has ventured out in the neighborhood (maybe four people) because their cars are on the street; they can't get them back up the driveways.

It's suppose to be a whopping 16 today so Mother Nature will not be assisting us. I'm on DAY 3 of the same outfit and my Diet Coke is running low; I'll have the shakes next if I don't break out of here soon.

Again, I'd take snow any day where methodical shoveling gets you somewhere...ice ice baby...not so much!

Good morning Cindy,

Stay calm and let the jitters pass..maybe by the week-end it will warm up. It was 20 degrees in Austin this morning and that is really cold for us!! No snow (although they are teasing us in forecasts) and we are having rolling outages across the city (it seems the city is selling our electricty at high prices to other states). It was 81 on Sunday in Austin..20 is not acceptable!!

Business is defintiely not as usual here Anita; we are three days behind here! Schools were out again today; hammers are being taken to windshields to be able to even get into the car to see!

Michael...exactly, 4-wheel drive won't work...ice is the great equalizer.

Yikes......ice is the worse. And to think people here in Phx are complaining about how cold it is today. low 26, high 48l I went to an early morning meeting and they were all whining! I said - hey - think of all those poor people stuck in snow and ice. They agreed! Waaa Waaa Waaa :)

Out of diet coke isn't a good think......hang in there. Any chocolate left? :)

well we are whimps and I just finished watching the news conference and the emergency teams are preparing the Parish for icy conditions, we had sleet earlier this morning, my closing was cancelled for tomorrow the courthouse, banks etc are closed and we dont have ice or snow yet we are crazy cajuns!!

My snowblower decided not to start for me, so I had to shovel everything by hand. I did a little more damage to my already-messed-up shoulder, BUT, I'd rather shovel again with one of those tiny shovels that kids take to the beach (with a small bucket) than have that much ice. Maybe the local Coca Cola bottling company will swing by and hook you up?

Marilyn, Dawn and Eric...I'm breakin' out of here tomorrow...more snow coming Saturday so it will be my only chance. It will probably be May before the ice is gone.

My teammated showed two houses today; fell down three times and once on top of her client...he feel and knocked into her and she fell...it's a freakin' skating rink in Indy!
