I would like to take a couple of minute to briefly tell you about an organization that means alot to me, "The Gideons". The Gideons are a group of born again Christian business  men and profesionals. Including the Auxillary there are over 250,000 members worldwide. Last year by the grace of God the Gideons placed over 70 million scriptures in 181 countries in 84 laguages.

    The Gideons goal is to ploace the word of God where it is needed. Besides for personal distributions we place bibles in hospitals, hotels ,motels, prisons, nursing homes, schools, assisted living facilities, doctors and dentists oficces and to military personnel, I'm sure I missed sometrhing , but you get the picture.

The Gideons call to arms is ISIAIH 55 : 11 So is my word that goes out from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

If you go to WWW. gideons international.org you can find alot of information, the testionies of people who came to the Lord because of a Gideon testament in the right place at the right time are astounding.

    So if any one reading this has been thinking about finding a ministry where they can reaaly help to spread the Lords glory I urge you to find a local Gideon and ask for more information. It has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.

You  said "business men", so does that mean women are not welcome to participate?

I didn't go to the site. I will try later. I know a lot of people believe women are not called to teach or preach and I agree in some ways that I will not expand on here but I also think women are in a great place to teach by example and to reach out to other women and to their customers and coworkers. I believe bibles are the best closing gift you can give to a customer.

Do the Gideons care if people take those bibles or are they supposed to be left there for others that stay in the rooms? I have always wondered about that. I've never taken one....just wondered...because I am sure some people take them.

They have a powerful ministry and I know more than one that came to faith while in a hotel room in a far away city holding a Gideon Bible.

 The only women in the gidein are the auxillary menebers of which I think there are about 60 or 70 thousand. But you would have to be married to a member. And the Gideons think its just fine if the bibles are taken from the rooms. ,The whole idea is to get them to people that need them many a suicide has been forgetten about because there was a gideon bible in the draw that gave them hope.

I wholeheartedly support the Gideons.  I give donations to their ministry every chance I get.  My brother can be counted in the "suicides averted" category...All Thanks to a strategically placed bible.

God has created man and woman equally and He commands us,men and women to spread HIS WORDS. Also why only men can be enrolled  as GIDEONS ? What are the reasons?? it is unbiblical, isn't it? Because alot of friends would like to joint as active members.
