Austin is a sea of Burnt Orange

Real Estate Agent with Sky Realty South Austin

Football season is off and running.  Even if I dont follow the stats I know its here because everywhere I look people are dressed in Burnt Orange,  I mean Tshirt, Shorts, sweatpants, headbands, carrying umbrellas, sitting in chairs, EVERYWHERE its the Longhorn Burnt Orange.

This is not a bad thing, its one of the things that pulls Austin together, the masses the everyday everywhere everyone wearing Burnt Orange in support of the local University of Texas football team. You go to the supermarket, its there, to the car wash, to the mall, uptown, downtown..  Fall is definitely in the air when Mack Brown the head football coach appears weekly on the local radio call in show.

Austin has festivals, rollergirls, Broadway shows, art exhibits, and so many food festivals I couldn't name them all.. here are a few for this weekend.

9-22&23 Moon Festival Celebration  Chinatown Center/North Lamar

9-23 Family Museum Day: Make a Toast to Art! Austin Museum of Art

9-27-30  Ballet Austin: A Midsummer Night's Dream

9-29 It's A Nano World, Austin Children's Museum

I see no mention of UCF in your post! I wonder how much celebration would be taking place if it wasn't for those three little points! :)

My husband got his Bachelor's there as well as his MBA, and he's still only a fan when they're winning.  If they make a bad play, it's all about how bad they are... doesn't sound very loyal to me, but he thinks it is... the dog hates football season because as soon as Mike raises his voice at the TV, poor Oscar goes running out the back door.

I know you wrote this blog entry for the 2007 football season, but it's just as relevant for every college football season in Austin. Many decades ago, I had the opportunity to move to Austin to take a very lucrative job. I turned it down. Why? Because I'm a maroon-blooded Texas A&M graduate and I just couldn't tolerate all the burnt orange in Austin, 365 days a year, 366 for leap years. Alas, being so much older now, I still dislike t.u. sports, but I have a greater appreciation for Austin and other vibrant cities.

Gig 'em, Aggies!
